We expect to have a demonstration of the new Cummins Quick Check II software at May Madness 2001. This product utilizes a "palm" computer (separate purchase at about $170 which includes various calculational etc. features, from office and computer supply houses). The software-based product includes a hardwire adapter for the Ram wiring harness and will enable the owner to look at the performance of each cylinder of the engine, see fault codes, what they mean, and what is wrong. The QC II product will cost around $300. This product is exptected to be ready for sale by June and we hope Rammers can arrange to buy them at the MM01 show. Demo's on a couple trucks are scheduled to take place at the Wednesday and Thursday Dyno Days.

This attraction will replace the open house originally scheduled at Cummins Intermountain. Cummins Intermountain and Cummins Corporate hope to provide some give-away items for drawings and goodie bags.

Joe, will the Cummins software let you reset trouble codes as well?
I'm looking for a system like this to do my own diagnostics, if I should ever have any problems. Please keep us posted on how things turn out.

The competition is $99 and is available now. The competition can clear codes!

ODBII ScanTool

The real time data available is:
Engine temp
Intake air temp
Calculated Load
RPM
Speed
Throttle Position

You also get the trouble codes and can clear trouble codes and the check engine light. As long as your Palm OS is 3. 0 or higher it will work.

The author of the software said if he can get access to the data he can even do a custom program for the TDR. We have to commit to a number though.

what wiring harness do these 2 items spoken about ( the Cummins software and the ODB II software) connect to ? the connector under the hood or the one under the dash ?

If it's the software that Alex Peper developed and I tested last year, it connects only to the OBD-II connector under the dash.
At the time I bought mine, he didn't have the Cummins can-bus that would allow his software to talk to the power train module. He said he was working on it but I just gave up hope.

That link above is from dharrison. The software is downloadable now, however you have to have the gadget to connect to the plug under the dash. (pictures on on the link)

i call cummins west monthly. they still don't know when it will be out (and obviously don't have it in stock). what is frustrating is that their "hold" commercial touts the ability of cummins quick check for the palm to read "Any" diesel engine!!

Been away for some time but I do have the Cummins Quickcheck on my trucj and have had it since MayMadness. It is a great tool for those of you that want to see what is really happening on our trucks, it gives many bits of data in real time with real numbers as opposed to the silly quess it on the dash. We are still working out software as this is in its last stages of developmetn and testing but I am very pleased with the results. Cummins has gone to great lengths to work this out for the Dodge owners.
