Does anyone know what the cost of the RoadRelay4 will be?

According to the Cummins rep at Timberline last weekend, it will vary somewhat by dealer, but probably $1000 + $100 or so. I would like to have one, but kind of spendy. He said there should be more info on the Cummins web site store in a week or two.

I have this unit and run it using a Handspring Visor. It does in fact give you TC's (Trouble Codes) that are OBDII compliant. I have used it on several late model cars to clear codes and it gives you an amazing amount of information. Also can display info in real time. I use it on my 2001. 5 CTD RAM. The display of info is sometimes erratic on the CTD because of the 2 ECM's, Dodge and Cummins and how they trade info. The Manufacturer acknowledges this problem and reports he is working on it. It does however display and clear Trouble Codes - No Problem.

Anyone know if this thing works with the IIIc or not. The magazine said they would have a review of the product in the next issue. If the review is good, the timing could be good for Christmas.



If anyone has tried one , please let us know how it works. Especially interested in knowing if it can read actual in spite of modifications.

QuickCheck Update

I was at the Cummins Diesel Truck Nationals in New Jersey this weekend and got some information on the QuickCheck to share.



The QC is a Read-Only System, which captures Real-Time engine data via the MAP and Data-Link. It reads SAE J1587 broadcast information for all electronic diesel engines. Cummins, CAT, Detroit, Volvo, International, Mack, etc. They did say all



The Features of the QuickCheck are, "Communicates SAE J1587 Only, Reads Only, Reads Equipment info, Fault, Monitor and Trip Data, Stores Information on Equipment, Fault and Trip, and Works with 6 pin or 9 pin Deutsch connector.



The show special is a Palm VII organizer, QuickCheck Program, J1587 Datalink Adapter, with all the required connectors for $500. 00.

Work with Handspring?

I'm one of the new guys - thanks to all of you for great info and sites to check out!



Since Palms and Handsprings use the same Palm OS, I wondered if the Handspring would work - I saw that it wasn't listed, but there are few differences between models. Any thoughts?

I was looking at Class 8 trucks this weekend and asked a salesman if he could verify the mileage on a certain truck. He pulls a PalmPilot out of his pocket right there on the spot and plugs the 7 pin connector in under the dash and gives me a history on the truck.



Miles

hours

Idle hours

Total fuel consumed

Fuel consumed while idling



Then he searched and found if any trouble codes had been recorded over the life of the truck. He found that it had overheated twice.



I asked him where I could get the software and adapter and he said he got his at Cummins.



I questioned the Cummins part because the truck we were looking at had a Cat engine in it.



He said the software would read any engine with electronic controls. Cummins, Cat, Detroit, Navistar, etc.



My question: Is this the the same Quick check we are talking about?



If so, I'm going to Cummins and buy one today?
