Cummins QuickCheck

Reading through the December issue of Family Motor Coach and I came across this gizmo in the poducts forum, Cummins QuickCheck SAE J1587. Works in conjunction with a Palm handheld device and gives a wealth of info on the various functions relative to our engines performance. For less than $250. 00 it might be a good stocking stuffer!
Has anyone out there used such a device? If so, what is your opinion of it?
One more stupid question, the info is available for SAEJ1587 engine data with SAEJ1939 data to come? What engine do I have?

i've been badgering cummins west in san leandro for months now. i called last week and they told me they don't expect it until late january... which is what they've been telling me for the last several months.

we ought to definitely get a group purchase on this one... . primarily because i want one!!

i plan on calling them again the first week of jan '01

Santa is bringing me a Palm V. So, the quick check sounds like a must have.

you may wanna check with cummins. i know the hardware is compatible with Palm III's (probably not the IIIc) and VII's, but it may not be compatible with the V. you should check to make sure.
