Beginning in August folks who own 24 Valve turbo diesel powered Dodge Rams will be able to install Cummins
impressive RoadRelay™ 4 on-board computer system on their trucks. The in-cab, real-time system provides drivers with data about performance, maintenance and safety and
can be had with optional GPS.
Cummins has previously used the unit in the trucking and motorhome markets. "Because of RoadRelay's dramatic success with commercial trucks, we know it will help Cummins 24-valve Ram owners, too," said Cummins Ann-Kristin de Verdier, director, engine data information
systems. "By giving our customers the inside scoop on their engine, they'll get useful data to help them run hard and get the best performance from their engines. "
The RoadRelayTM 4 is mounted on the floor, on or under the dash, and features an easy-to-read, digital screen. The system offers instantaneous, digital read-outs of engine load, fuel economy, fuel rate, fault tables, coolant temperature, oil and boost pressures, battery voltage, vehicle speed and
RPM.
It also lets drivers calculate travel times, distances, and fuel consumption. The computer even provides an estimated time of arrival, a real-time clock and an alarm clock. The
GPS equipped models will also provide headings, a mark and go-to function plus latitude and longitude.
Another benefit is the system's maintenance monitor, which can track up to four preventive maintenance events, such as oil, tire, brake and fuel filter changes. It also logs the services performed on the vehicle. The system also offers warnings for over-speed and over-revving and a gear shift
reminder, too. The RoadRelayTM 4 system will be available in early August (sounds like a must have for 24v diesel owners).
