I have one installed on my 2001. Love it. If you get a check engin light, it tells you what is wrong. You can set your pm schedules and keep track of fuel usage by state. One of the best investments I made for diagnostics. keep me from having to pay the dealer for questionable information as to what they think might be wrong. You will like. ;)

roadrelay 4

I wanted one for my 2002. Cummins dealer in PA finally got me answer... ... ... ... Dodge changed the ecm so much that I couldn't get one for my truck. Otherwise I would have one!

Unless this is a brand new model they do not make one that will work with the CTD in a 3rd gen truck, something to do with DC changing something, that's what Cummins told me when I inquired about it a year ago.

Well, just got an email back from Cummins about the RoadRelay 4... . long email, all canned about how great it is, etc. , but stuck in the middle was my answer;

"Cummins Road Relay 4 is NOT available for 2003 and later Dodge Ram pickup trucks due to communication conflicts between the engine ECM and the Dodge Ram truck ECM. "

Just like a few others have said... :(

Oh well, I tried... looks like it would have been a cool addition!!!

rbattelle... excellent link, looks like you covered just about everything!!!

Any chance something might change soon? Seems like I read that Dodge changed the ECM for 04 & the 48re, have to do a search when I have time... .

Sounds like if someone could hack this, you could set up your own fueling curve & program the ECM with a laptop & the right software! (Which means Dodge probably isn't going to allow that to happen!) :(

Anyway... Thanks for the good work!

Dan

I can't help but wonder if you '04 guys might be able to run a RoadRelay. The ECM change might have been in your favor. Alas, us 3rd gen guys are out of luck.

Oh, so now we're not even part of the 3rd gen??? ;)

I may have found out what happen to the ROADRELAY ability. I was looking a a block diagram of the ECM wiring in the 2004 Powertrain Diag book and it showed pins 4 and 5 of the 60 pin connector as being "HS CAN C" bus to talk to a "Cummins Service Tool" but those pins now have "Chrysler Collision Detection" (CCD) bus type signals on them, and connect to pins in the Data Link connector under the dash.
