cummin's rotory pumps all the same??????

If there are differances what are they and how do you tell them apart ????

what about school bus pumps???? wrecking yard noy to far from me ?????

and what would it do if you put one on that was not the same? torque curve?

The pumps are pretty much the same with some differences in the additional pieces like Aneroid, KSB, etc. A pump is setup according to CPL. This contains info about engine timing, pump timing, injection flow, etc. If the specs for the pump don't match with the specs for the engine it is not efficient or possibly unusable.



You can take a pump from a different application and get it to work if it is close enough but it doesn't always work right. The injection timing and fuel curve specs are pretty tight and need to work closely with the cam profile in order to make the engine efficient. A little out on either and things just don't perform.

JS, what do you have? Ebay pump, from junkyard, but don't know what it was off? If its from a school bus, I bet it would work ok. Does that junkyard have a school bus 5. 9VE powered core? Aftercooler on it? What kind of parts/goldmine are you setting near?

That would be found in a Bosch pump application listing. If a Bosch dealer is relatively decent to work with and they are willing to do the research it can be tracked down. More than likely it will list the application and if it is not one for your truck the standard answer is "It won't work" even though it may. If the pump will bolt up it will generally work, but, if the KSB is different and the Aneroid is missing or different it may be problematic to get it to work correctly. What is you have? Any pictures?

Yep, the standard answer is "It won't work"



You have to rermember, most all these pump guys are trained by Bosch and they "have" to adheir to strick rebuild/repair procedures. Many of then probably drive Honda Civics and have no reason/desire to explore the lands unknown.

One thing I saw that I never heard of was a natural gas 5. 9 with SPARK PLUGS WTF is what we thought when we saw it They have all kinds of buse stuff out there some guys were getting 4'' aluminized exhaust for there trucks for around $40 (it took some fab but for the money you couldn't beat it)



I'm just trying to find all I can about what is out there so when I find a good deal I can jump on it and know it will work

We have a ton of those natural gas 5. 9s here at work. They run ok, but the nice thing is they are very quiet compared to diesel.

The head is different (obviously to accomodate sparkers), but not sure if the pistons are different. The rest should be the same. If you wanted to run one on something other than CNG, you would have to come up with a carb or some kind of inj set-up. The CNGs use a mixer where the air horn would be on the intake. It would be challenging, but could probably be done. They do have terrible throttle response though. There's lots of talent here, maybe someone will want to try it.

One place is the Cummins Master Repair Manual for Injection Pumps and Injectors Mid-Range Engines, Bulletin Number 3666037-5, printed in 2000. For each CPL, it lists the various pumps that will work.



For CPL 1351, the following pumps are shown:
