I was talking to my mechanic today and he was telling me that he just got a Scanner/do-it-all diagnostic computer from Cummins. I don't know exactly what to call it. I think it's the Cummins counterpart to DC's DRBIII or whatever.

Anyways, can that be hooked up to a Dodge? He's got both the 6 pole or 9 pole big round connector. Can that be adapted to work with a Dodge? It's still new to him and he hasn't taken any classes yet. We were just looking for a place to plug it in. I guess it works on the 5. 9, 8. 3, and larger.

I'd love to be able to have him hook it up rather than going to the dealer.

There is a loooong thread on this subject, from about 3 years ago. If you search you'll find it. Some very qualified tech-types came to the conclusion that it couldn't be done -- that an adapter could not be made that would connect the Cummins scanning tool to Dodge wiring of 2003 model year or later. My understanding from that thread was that the Cummins scanning tool would work on 2002s and earlier, but not on 2003s or later.

Cummins does not have the software at this time to test 3rd gen Dodges, there was an agreement made... ... ... ... ... ... ...

i dont think so------the DRBIII works in the same manner as the cummins tool and it pretty much does every thing you could ask of it! :D

cummins cannot scan a 3rd gen truck. You have to use the DRBIII at the dealership.

Remember the drb111 is useless on the 06 :-laf :-laf :-laf It is a can bus vehicle only the starsan will help or the star mobil but that is about a waste of time

Per the agreement with Dodge, Cummins does not have the access to the software. The Cummins in the Dodges use a different communications protocol than the regular Cummins. The Dodge ECMs have the same protocol but is is locked so Cummins can't work on them.

Here's an email sent to me from former member TSturges

"Howdy,

My TDR subscription expired, but I wanted to give you this info:

I called Cummins West about 2 weeks ago to ask about this RoadRelay product of theirs:

http://roadrelay.com/

The guy I talked to wasn't sure but took my info and did some research.

He called me back a few hours later to let me know that YES, it WOULD work in my 04. 5 600 Dodge RAM!

I said, "Are you sure? It's widely believed that these cool products don't work in the Dodge Ram application... " -- Cummins West guy: "YES, it will work!"

I was ready to give him the credit card number until he said that the price was around $800!

Good luck, I'd love to hear how you like it if you get one!"

Tim

I haven't had a chance to look into it yet. Just thought I'd share it with ya.

EDIT: Just went and looked. It's not what we're talking about, but if the software is there to talk to a Dodge for this...
