I just received an e-mail from Robert Patton with the subject "Cummine Engine Company - Parts and Service Survey". There was a URL to a page of the TDR site. I filled out the form to the best of my ability like a good boy. There is a comment block at the bottom of the form. I took this oportunity to rip a strip off their collective butts about the KDP. It might be a good idea for the rest of you to do the same. Who knows we might attract their attention. Probably not, but it's worth a try.

Just the KDP???

I covered all the bases. I said it was a shame that Cummins was associated with such a low life organization as Daimler-Chrysler.

I gave them an ear-load regarding their handling of the dowel pin issue, and the way neither one would stand up to take care of the problem.

email response?

what's up with the submit trying to send a mail. I have my own domain so I have a special account that I used to register here with, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let that survey respond by email. I wonder if you've heard of forms an cgi (what this site runs with).

So I'll fill it out as soon as they take the responces by some other means.

Sent mine to the trash. Last thing these guys need to know is how we modify and drive our trucks. If you think for a second that they don't know how pi$$ed we are about KDP and a lift pump issue well... ... ... ... I think that RPattpon is sucking up to the enemy for advertisement... ... ... . JMHO

Greg that is the wrong approach. trust me, they know how and what we do to these trucks. show me one piece of advertising from Cummins on here. they support us behind the scenes by giving us a direct channell to them, to take our problems and comments. they are working to round their product to better suit our needs. come on, we are 12,000+ members strong and know more about our trucks than the average DC diesel tech at any given dealership. they would be foolish to turn their backs on us. lets not turn ours on them.

lets give them the help they are asking for, and maybe they will give us an engine that will better suit our needs. 305HP is a step :D

lets give them the data and the responses. then, maybe DC will learn from it and start asking us about how to improve their trucks. I would love to get my hands around the throat of the person responsible for their supposed crew cab they are now offering. I was going to buy a new truck in 2003, but not now.

Damon, I will email Robin with your request. thanks for pointing it out.

Clarification

Please do not let this simple voluntary request become an issue.

If you have ANY concerns whatsoever, just hit the delete button on the e-mail. Absolutlely no problem.

This is not a "sucking up" initiative. It is simply a favor we're doing for the folks at Cummins who wanted some feedback. These are fine folks just trying to do their jobs.

We've also clarified that the personal information on the survey is voluntary.

If you wish to participate, only complete the fields you are comfortable completing.

I hope this clears up any concerns you may have.

We are always complaining that neither of the two (Cummins or Dodge) listens to us. Here we have an opportunity. They are asking for our input. How many times have you wished stores and service organizations you deal with every day would do this? Fill out the survey! Be nice, but be truthful.

Looks like Robin stepped in and cleared a few things up.

here is a comment from Steve St. "Ahhhhhh, the power of the internet - they're swamped with responses (1100 so far) and now they're trying to figure out how to deal with the volume of data there. "

this is the way to get them to tune in, folks. keep them coming and keep them honest. BTW did you see the question about where we would buy goodies. I picked; at Rallies. my thinking is this will get cummins to devote more time and resources to our events and we can meet these guys face to face and really show them what is going on. lets take down some barriers and get them thinking like us. the right way of course :D

Survey closed!!!!

They had more than 2000 responses and closed the survey. ****?? That's only a handful of CTD owners. Guess they really didn't want to know what we think after all.

Closed after 2000 responses in just a day or two?! This is good. They now see there is strong opinions and we want to be heard. You can bet your buns they heard us! It is often surprising what even just a small number of voices can motivate a company to do. It will be interesting to see where this goes, but it may take some time. Big companies change directions like big ships.

This is a first step and a good sign.

I would really like to see the response if the "right" Cummins and Dodge reps would have been at Muncie and seen some "warm up runs" or the fact that the last time I checked, the Duramax had highest HP. (don't go there, just illustrating a point).

Something is usually better than nothing...

I got the e-mail about the survey just a few hours after it was sent, clicked on the link and it had been closed already.

That was fast.

What Todd T said is on the money. here is a good chance to get some changes made. If Cummins was real concerned about what we do to our trucks you can bet they would be at every big event checking the Mods.

I personally wasn't too impressed with the survey, they weren't looking for mechanical improvements or suggestions, just which directions their advertising efforts should go in order to reel in more customers for aftermarket parts, repairs and accessories.
