How To Stop Computer Reflash

I have been reseaching power upgrades and found a note on Dave Fritz page about cummins having a upgrade that gives 235 HP and 505# Tourqe and that it cost 900 bucks. Well I went to the cummins site and found it buried in the dodge section. When I went to the link it froze my computer:mad: well I want to look into this since it specifically said it will not void warranty... I have the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Well this BOOM and a 4 inch exhaust is all I think I want.

Anyone know about this MOD from Cummins sold at dodge dealers for $900???

It sounds like the "Torquis Maximus" set-up.

I don't think it's available with the auto transmission.

There are probably better BOMBs for less bucks... ... . Howzeaboutit guys?

Thanks I though it might be for the manual transmission... . I am seriously thinking about the edge ez if this isn't for auto trans

That upgrade is for manual trannies only. Even if you had a manual, your money would be better spent on say an EZ box and Bosch 275's, which will probably give you a real at the rear wheels 100 HP increase, whereas that chip will only give you 10 extra ponies. With these mods, you will probably want to upgrade your transmission, but I'll stay away from that topic as I don't have an auto. The price for both is still cheaper than the chip. The warranty question is the big equalizer, however. You will find the opinions on this matter numerous and varied in scope.

What to do

CGoyette,

I would recommend the edge "comp" box. It has several power level settings that you can change from inside the cab of your truck. If you start having trouble with your transmission you can simply lower the setting :)

You are finally on the right track... ... ..... The Edge EZ and a 4" exhaust will do just fine for what you want to do. Unlike the Comp box, the EZ is a "plug in" and not hard wired into the electrical system. Should you ever need warranty work from a dealer, simply unplug the EZ and drive into the dealership. DO NOT drive into the dealership with the EZ plugged in! There is no sense in getting into a gale force urinating contest with the warranty boys. ... ... ... ... ... ...

FWIW - The Cummins upgrade was said to void the powertrain warranty but Cummins will stand behind their motor.

I think you will find more bang for your buck with the other products mentioned. Why not since you will become your own warranty station anyway.

There are several bombers out here running the TM in autos. One note: unless you have a good stout torqe converter you will not realize the full benefet of the TM. It moves the torque and hp curve down about 400 rpm and with a stock 2000rpm stall convertor you will not be able to use it. It does make for a better hole shot with a tight tc. It is also a great towing ECM as you do not have to run at 2700 rpm to attain max hp for hill climing, or accelerating up a steep grade.

Dave Fritz has a torque graph on his site as well as advertised in the TDR magazines. It is like putting an RV cam in a gasser, puts the power where it is needed, lower rpms.
