I was just wondering through Cummins' web site and was checking out the FAQ. Although I wouldn't consider the Cummins uprate kit due to how proud they are of it (cost wise), I was wondering about this paragraph under the Faq:
"Does Cummins and Mopar sell uprate kits for the Cummins engine in the Dodge Ram?
Yes, but there are different uprate kits for various model year engines. For the 1998. 5-2000 model year 24-valve electronic engines with manual transmissions, Cummins and Mopar sell an ECM (computer) upgrade that increases torque to 505 lb. -ft. Note, however, that this is not available for the 2001 model year 235 HP engines"
Out of curiosity, does any one know why this uprate kit isn't available for '01? What changes between '00 and '01 that would make it so a '00 ECM upgrade won't work for a '01?
