Pumps can easily fail if there's a minor leak someplace that keeps it running al the time. You may want to put a gauge on it and see if it hold a vac.

It's real easy - - 3 bolts hold whole assembly to engine - - think they are 10mm -- -a short extension will get the bottom bolt from the rear (Of truck) - - 4 10mm bolts hold the pump to the main assembly that is where the oil comes from.
