I am wondering if anyone has tried to use a cummins ecm with non chrysler software. looking up a dodge ecm from cummins it comes with torque management and only 460ftlbs. any 235 hp isb right from cummins is about 660ftlbs. anyone know if you can swap ecms?

Most other applications have a 100 pin ECM with two plugs. Our trucks only have 50 pin- one plug. I dont know whats on the other 50 that you couldnt just hang the ecm there with a cover over the extra plug. Id think the engine would run, but how well? how many faults would set?

The connectors are different. I'm sure the program inside to talk to the DCX boxes is different too.

You would also need to have a cummins shop flash it for you. Getting one to do this for a road use truck could be tricky. If you had a manual truck you could probably get outputs needed to feed the DC PCM for the dash (VSS, temp, oil). I doubt you would get the can bus operational without CEL's though.

Thinking about Smarty on top of my TST Pmax2.

BTW that 660 was at the flywheel right? Even on my moddest upgrades ive got 277hp/612tq at the wheels... .

with no visit to cummins for reflash on a cobbled modded ecm that might not work :D

yea that is flywheel torque. but remember that would be your starting point. now your ez would put you to 265hp and 750ftlbs. I forgot the connector was different. I wonder if you can recalibrate to a fleet calibration. I work at cummins, but Im not sure how the software sorks with chrysler. as I dont do anything with it. I know all the stock parameters aer locked and you cant touch them. hmmm, when it goes out of warranty ill have to zap it and try to recal to a fleet cal. and hope the aftermarket boxes still add power. I would assume so though. but even stock an extra 200 ft lbs smoke free would be nice :D
