Competition Show Me Smokers Truck Pulling

Competition Division 3 Ohio

Any body ever race a stock Dmax? I got a buddy who just picked up a 01 ext cab, sb, 4x4 Dmax/Alli with about 45k on it. He is going to be here next weekend and we might have to run them. Just curious if anyone has raced one stock for stock with an HO/48RE. I surprisingly beat my friends 00 ext cab, sb, Z71 w/5. 3 the other night. My truck only has 5k on it so I know its not even broken in yet. Will let ya know how the race goes next weekend!

You should get him. I used to have a regular cab Dmax, and with the little 245 tires and a 4x4 launch, I got a 16. 2. My nephew has a HO/Auto, quad cab 4x4, and in 2wd he got a 16. 3.

What really freaked me out was how the HO/Auto feels. It just pulls the same all the way through the rpm range, no power spikes or sweet spots, it feels slow. Then I raced my nephew with my SO/5 speed, I do have 315's on my truck and that did slow me down, but man he tore me a new one(this was when I was stock).

Just do it, it's fun no matter how it comes out, and let us know.

Races like this prove next to nothing.

I'd happily let him win... . that way he has an inflated ego... . which will then be deflated when he comes up against a BOMBed diesel.

Soon he'll go out and spend some bread with one of our beloved vendors so he can BOMB his diesel.

In the end... . everyone's happy.

When you loose... . make sure you sound really bummed out: "Wow... . that DMAX goes like stink... . wish I had one (NOT!)... . "

LOL Holeshot... Your right they don't really prove anything they are just fun like Swayse said.

First thing he asked me was if mine was chipped yet! Then he went on to talk about "the juice" so I don't think it will be to long before he has his bombed. It should be fun to see how they perform stock vs. stock and then how they do as we bomb them!

Don't worry Wade the day my Camaro sells I will be giving Keith a call!! :D

I've been known to drag race just about anything... . while driving darn near anything..... so I'm just as guilty as the next guy of trying to have fun.

What I disagree with is people settling brand/powerplant disputes in this manner..... you all know what I mean.

Just make sure you 'tree' him... . :-laf

Well we raced the two trucks... The only thing that made it kinda dramatic was the girlfriend yelling at me not to race. Other than that the two trucks were dead even. Which ever truck got the jump won the race. Raced from a roll at about 35 to 65 and same thing... dead even. So there ya have it... I think I will race again with more miles on my truck to see if anything changes.

We need important data....

How long did it take before your girlfriend decided it was time to speak to you? :-laf

My GF would probably give me the silent treatment for at least a day or two... ...

Matt

My GF just laughed as I dusted a 1500 yesterday. I'm asked her to watch the gauges when I'm racing and she replied "you're ALWAYS racing!"

Her little ones (girls) were in the back seat today and they OOOH'ed everytime I puffed some smoke today. Dialed in 5x5 for the girls! Too much fun--they're going to LOVE the 3's:D

ROTFLMAO... I think her problem was that she had a little too much wine at the wedding reception that we had just left. Didn't take her long to talk to me after. Since she was a bit tipsy she forgot about the whole thing once we got home.

All was good :-laf if ya know what I mean. I think if she was sober she would have just laughed also cause she never minds when I take her racing around in the Camaro.

As far as the weights are concerned I haven't yet weighed mine empty but from looking around the board I think mine would weigh around 7200 to 7400lbs. From checking the Diesel Page it looks like his Dmax would be around 6600 to 6800lbs. He also had 285's on his truck which he thought made it a bit slower than with the stock tires.
