Cummins is too good for a truck

I need to turnup a '87 3208(250hp)

I often print out some of the facts I find on the web showing how the Cummins are the better of the two - to show to the owner, and salesmen at the GMC dealership I work at.

You know the responses I get. They counter attacked today, and printed out their sheet showing where the Duramaxy makes more HP and Torque.

So I divided the figures by 8 and 6 respectfully to get hp and toque per cyclinder.

Guess what... the Cummins makes 40. 9hp per cyclinder as opposed to 37. 5 for the DM; and 84. 2lb-ft per cyclinder as opposed to 65. 0 for the DM.

This is off of a GM sales manual. I rest my case.

:p

Torque and HP

If you really want to pull their chain... ...

Duramax 300hp, 520 ft lbs torque

Cummins 245 hp, 505 ft lbs torque

Duramax..... 1. 733 ft. lbs per hp

Cummins 2. 061 ft. lbs per hp

The Duramax produces only 83% as much torque per hp as the Cummins and the Cummins does it with 40% fewer parts!

a picture is worth....

There were some of the connecting rods on here a couple of months back. This would be great ammo.
