I often print out some of the facts I find on the web showing how the Cummins are the better of the two - to show to the owner, and salesmen at the GMC dealership I work at.
You know the responses I get. They counter attacked today, and printed out their sheet showing where the Duramaxy makes more HP and Torque.
So I divided the figures by 8 and 6 respectfully to get hp and toque per cyclinder.
Guess what... the Cummins makes 40. 9hp per cyclinder as opposed to 37. 5 for the DM; and 84. 2lb-ft per cyclinder as opposed to 65. 0 for the DM.
This is off of a GM sales manual. I rest my case.
