I have dropped multiple drinks out of my cup holder (94 Dash w/ cupholder over radio) and I was luck enough to have them closed... Until...

Well the other day, I had a nice little 44oz Coke sitting in the cup holder, and yes it was full. I always put a hand over the top to make sure that its safe and not going to tip out, well it did. 44oz of coke on the Pass. floor. That sucked. Well I've decided I want to remove the cup holder and put in a CB. I'm sure that there is somebody out there that has done this, and wondering what options I have. What CB did you use, and what problems did you run into. I would really like a CB with a black face, I don't what one of the Chrome face ones. Never really liked those.

So, thanks, and hope you all have a merry christams!

Corey

I don't think those holders were intended to hold 1/2 gallon containers. I didn't even know they made coke cups that big  Do you pee often? :D

I'm sure you can fit a CB in the place of your coke holder, but you'll probably have to build your own spacer plate to fill the hole that the CB doesn't fill. If you can find a close fitting CB, you might try filling the gaps with black silicone caulk, it's worked for me on some jobs and looks good if done right.

Doc

There was a member recently that posted a pic of his CB in the cup holder location. Sorry, I don't remember who it was, but it did look very nice.

Doc:

For the latter,I drink a lot of coffee. Thats why I carry a large, empty, sport drink container. :D On a trip I stop for fuel only.

For us 44oz. 'ers, the cup holders on the '98 and newer with the automatic transmission is the best cup holder on any vehicle I have ever seen.

The Genos cupholder fits most plastic 44 oz cups perfectly, but if you have a 5 speed you have to put it in the passenger side, otherwise you can't use 4th gear. I think we need to find the guy who designed the '94-'97 cupholders and make him clean the carpet of every Ram on the road. That thing is like a spring board.

Corey,

I replaced the factory cup spiller with Geno's cup smoothy and put a switch panel in the cup spiller hole. Much better deal. No fumbling in the dark trying to put a cup back in without spilling it. Not only that, but the Geno's cup holder has more places to put junk. :D:D:D

I have a '01. 5 4x4 6 speed, the cup holder is on the floor next to the 4x4 lever. My cell phone has committed suicide twice by diving out of the little cubby hole and in to the Big Gulp. Cell phones don't tread Pepsi to good. :D

The floor mounted cupholder/spare bolts container :D really warms up a 20oz. bottle of pop fast, in the winter time. And it cools off coffee in an insulated mug. Can't win. I can't believe anybody would carry a 44oz. coke cup in their truck:eek: you guys are cracking me up ! LOL

Turbo Thom, how do you pull it back out the narrow neck of the sport drink bottle :D while keeping one hand on the wheel?

tgbol, please enlighten the rest of us how you manage to drive a Dodge 4x4 with no lid and not spill it all over. I used to do this all the time in my Toreass (that car also had the cupholder briliantly placed in front of the radio, to insure sticky buttons), but after the first couple times I tried it in the truck I gave up.

Briar Hopper, the air here in Denver is nice and dry, meaning you have to drink lots. I get in the truck with out a 44 oz ice tea, Kool Aid, Tang, water, whatever. The ice tea comes out of the carpet OK, and I've been lucky with the Kool Aid so far and haven't spilled anyway. Why couldn't they have put black carpet in?

Pete

You guys would laugh at the inside of my truck when we're traveling.

I have the pre 98 Niagara Falls cup holder. (97 extended cab)

I reversed the rear seat cup holder so it goes forward. My kids are small and cannot reach to the floor when securely strapped down.

My kids have a Wolf Automotive truck center console strapped into the center section of the rear flip seat with 2 cup holders. If you have children try one of consoles to help hold their stuff while traveling.

I have a Geno's smoothie on my center console.

That makes 8 useable cup holders and sometimes we have everyone of them filled. The wife has looked at those hooks you hang on the doors, too. She knows the origianl cup holder is not long in functional condition.

The smoothie is the best for the front seat.

I have a black CB in my drink spiller hole, its a small Cobra. PM me your e mail and I will send you some pictures of the mount and finished job.

I pop riveted pieces of steel banding (the straps used to wrap heavy boxes for shipping) across the open sides of the cup holder. Now it is pretty secure, but the 44 oz cups are tempting fate :D

As far as the pictures, that would be great. I know there is SOMEBODY out there that makes a "remote" cb. It has the base located away from the actual face of it, and its connected by a cord.

I"ve also seen pic's of somebody's setup, I just don't remember who it was.

So thanks guys & Merry Christmas,

Corey & Heather Perez

I wondered if anyone else realized these cupholders sucked! After Sheetz cuppocino went all over my truck (windshield and everything) I cussed and threw everything I could get my hands on out the window into the road... even my food! I was upset. So I fixed mine with a piece of #10 gauge wire and two holes, check it out!

Well Tom:

It's like this. I have the large mouth bottle. Almost 1 3/4 inches. And not to get to personal, that does just fine. To retrive it I just let go. Kinda like a bunge cord. Now I gotta kill ya. My secrets out. It works for me.
