I have owned five dodge trucks. 92-95-02-06-and now a 2015 all 4x4 cummins powered. All had cupping on the outside of the front tires. My new truck has 3500 miles on it. It has the same . Is this a common problem?

ROTATION on ALL straight axle vehicles is mandatory. The interval will vary by correct inflation and alignment as well as type of use

I have had a 96 and 01 2500, 03 and 14 drw 3500s. I rotate tires every 5k miles. The only problem I had was with the 96 2500. In the first 2,000 miles I had three sets of steel rims and two sets of tires after the first set had cupped. Vibration was the problem being chased. I finally bought a set of Micky Thompson aluminum rims and had no further problems. The second set of tires were changed after 55,000 miles. The problem with the factory rims can be explained by the attempts at balancing. The balance machine mounts the rim using the center hole which assumes the hols is indeed centered and the runout of that hole matches the runout of the outer beading surface of the rim. No other problems with 600k spread over the four trucks. Hope this helps.
I see I need to update my sig. The 14 truck now has 30k with 12k towing. It has the Alcola rims and I only rotate the front tires side to side. No uneven wear so far.

Too much toe in will cause this. The factory setting is about 1/4". My alignment guy said 1/32. Also rotate the fronts side to side.

I am at 30000 miles on mine and have only rotated twice. Only have some slight cupping on the front. On this truck with the aluminum wheels it is only possible to rotate side to side, so all the miles are on the front. This is my 4th Ram and I think the '08 for me was the worst for cupping tires.

Never had a cupping problem at all. 99 - 03 - 12, total of 500,000 miles combined.
The 12 had 90,000 on the fronts only rotated once. They were the Generals.

I rotate mine (side to side & front/back and include the spare in my rotation) every 5k miles.

If I didn't, I would see wear on the sides. Keeping them all at 70/80 psi, they are also wearing in the middle.

As a result, almost even wear. Tires (firestone transforce HT's) will probably last 45k. 50k if I push it.

I don't notice any rough riding.
