... just got the TSB today... (after hearing tidbits about its possible release like 9 months ago)-

DC issued TSB # 02-001-01 for '94-'01 BR/BE trucks, 2500 or 3500, (4X4 only!) - it is a TSB talking about new parts release for curb height lowering kits for the rear:

"The curb height lowering package is designed to reduce the rear spring spacer block by 1 7/8" which will lower the rear of the vehicle by several inches providing clearance so that most customers can attach their fifth wheel or goose neck trailer to the trailer hitch turntable.

Packages include installation instructions and all components required to lower the curb height of the vehicle. Once the package has been installed on the vehicle, the vehicle must have the front suspension re-aligned and the headlamps re-adjusted. "

The part #'s I have are:
05066072AA - 2500 series 4x4
05066073AA - 3500 series 4x4

Looks like retail price is $625. 00 (yikes!) but are now available from DC (while supplies last, at that fine price)

Hope this info helps those of you asking about it in the past...

WOW! Al I can say...
Almost! #ad

If you install a 1 7/8" thinner spacer block, the vehicle will be 1 7/8" lower **. I won't get into DC recreating physics although I'm sure there are several on this sight who are witness to it. (Exaust causing pulling, anybody?)

I'm guessing (and expecting for the price) that the kit includes new springs and maybe a Maghytec thrown in for good measure!

** OK, may not exactly. As the angle of the truck changes, more weight will be placed on the rear springs compressing the slightly more than the 1 7/8".

Boy the price for 4 wheel drive just keeps climbing!

LOL.

What about us *** -in the air 2wd's?

Max

Ps. DC, at that price... DON'T BOTHER, AT A 1/4 THAT PRICE DON'T BOTHER EITHER!

Well... . TSB's are just "technical information" and are "not an authorization for repair" ...

Methinks if you cry loud enough about your $40K truck not properly able to load your 5er, then maybe they'll comp it... . all I can say is GOOD LUCK!

My Dad (Jack in Alaska) lowered the back of his 3500 himself, I can not remember how much he cut off the spacers, but I remember that he had to have new shocks (shorter) once he did it. Maybe he will read this and chime in...

Just happended upon this post and couldn't stop laughing! Does DC really think anyone would pay $600+ for 2 lift blocks 2 1/8" thick? I was told by a friend (I know, friends don't let friends drive Fords) that NEW 4X4 Ford owners that take their truck back to their dealer and ask to be lowered so they can tow their 5er, are taken care of at no cost and no questions asked. Why does DC still insist there is no problem here? #ad

I got one of those kits for a 100 bucks from
an exDC employee.
2 spacer block
4 u bolts
2 shocks
2 height sensing rods (1997-99or2000-01
Might be worth 200
I put it on but not sure if I,m going to leave it that way. I pull a 25 ft. 5ver
7000 lbs and it looks its to much for truck.
Not a good look. Have a good one

Mac B:
Tell me more about why the 5er looks like too much for the truck. Are you saying that after dropping the read end, and then hooking up the 5er that the back end sits too low?
I was wondering about that. From what I can tell, with the truck empty, the back end is about 1 1/2 inches high. If you drop the back and then load it up, I would expect that it would then be nose high. What the truck probably needs to to drop the front and the rear.

Klenger I think this kit takes it down a
little to much. The trailer weight won,t
drop the truck any. It,s right on the verge of being lower at the rear. In my driveway it looks level but some parking lots it looks lower inthe rear. I would like to see it going down the road with the trailer.
(wife won,t drive it. )

Mac B,

Obviously more in that kit than I was aware of. See if I believe rumor again #ad
Still, all that, I agree... . maybe $200 tops! Wish I had a friend like yours #ad
Do you have profile photos of your rig with the lowering kit on and your 5er hitched up? Would love to see what you are concerned about. I can understand some trailers not droping the rear of the truck. Other trailers will. Guess it just depends on the tongue weight of your particular rig. Thanks for setting me straight on the kit..... still hilarious though #ad

David i don,t have any pictures as yet,
This computer is as new to me as my diesel,
So i wouldn,t know how to get pictures on here if i had them.
The thing about that kit is you can,t use
the DC camper aux springs. You have to use something like Hilwig overloads. So if you have ahigh pin weight thats more money to spend. I don,t need them with my trialer.
Have a good one

Booster, don't know if this will apply to you but my dad tows a 25' fiver with his 4x4 2500 and to address the problem you're having he switched the trailer axles from above the leaf springs to below; essentially giving the fiver a 2" lift! It has worked great for him for over 3 years and many thousands of miles. Good luck #ad

Nahh - I don't have that problem... I was just posting the info for a couple of guys that were interested in the kit from DC.

But I have heard that spring swap works well (if done correctly. ) Thanks!

I had my 99 3500 QC 4x4 lowered nearly two inches to accomodate my Alfa 5er for $116 at a local shop. The "kit" was two new spacers and two new U-bolts and nuts and washers. No new shocks were installed as the OEMs had plenty of travel, with springs bottoming out before the shocks did. The increase in truck bed to 5er clearance was enough to put me in the "safe" area of just a hair under six inches. The truck does have a bit of an uphill stance and the high beams are useless until readjusted, except for reading tall highway signs or burning the retinas of those clowns that can't find the dimmer switch.
