why lower truck ?

Most of the RV croud don't lower the truck they raise the trailer. Look in the tow and haul section . Read all the post's on this subject its up to you . Ron in Louisville KYOo. Oo. Oo.

why lower truck

Ron,

I lowered the truck instead of increasing the height of the trailer primarily because the 5th wheel is high enough already (12' 6" to the top of the air conditioner) and I would think that would change the handling (at least somewhat) and increase the air drag. The most important reason for doing it the way I did is the building in which I store the 5th wheel has only about an inch of clearance right now. Increasing the trailer height would make it impossible to put it inside when we aren't camping. In time, keeping it inside when not in use makes a big difference in appearance and condition.
