Anticipating 5.9 rebuild, possible upgrades

Need ideas of where to look next

Is there a scheduled maintenance for so called tune ups on these 5.9's? Have 171000 Just curious if any valve adjustments needed.
Truck running fine.

Thanks

150k is recommended to check valves. 100k or 5 years change the coolant. 60-70k change the power steering fluid and flush. Brake fluid flush every 90-100k is not a bad idea either.

If you have an 03-05 time to think about replacing the oil separator and might as well do the VC cover, riser gasket, and injector harness connector o-rings because they will start leaking around the 180-200k range. 06 plus just VC cover\riser gaskets and PCV filter.

Helpful list for me, thank you. Regrading oil separator/crankcase vent others say there is nothing that can go wrong with the vent at least for 03-05. Are you thinking occlusion of the vent ?

Oh, there are things that go wrong with them. They are sitting in a hostile environment vibrating all the time batch in hot oil fumes. The glue holding them together cracks and they leak, the rubber grommets get loose, crack, and leak. The plastic can crack and leak. Just like the VC gasket and riser gasket and connector O-rings, they need changed at some point usually in the 180-200k range.

I have 382k miles on my 2004.5. Never had the valves adjusted. Ever. She runs beautifully and doesn't burn a drop of oil. Just had an oil analysis done. Perfect results for the millage. Zero blow by. Original stock injectors. :)
