Howdy Folks,

Yesterday I stopped by the local stealer to see about a recall on my '97 they had sent me a card on. (It is something to do with the throttle linkage and a bolt as near as I can tell, the teenybopper behind the counter had trouble with the computator and they are supposed to call back. )

While looking around, an '02 SWB quad-cab caught my eye. It is an auto, SLT, 2wd, 2500. Has trailer tow / camper packs, cloth interior with CD player in dash. Nice truck but not optioned to the hilt.

Sticker price was $34389. 71 and talking with the salesman they have a $2500 rebate but wouldn't come down off of sticker. It was my impression that people had found some good deals on '02s recently as the factory gears up for '03.

Have any of you purchased a truck like this in recent months? If so, how much were the dealers willing to knock off of the sticker?

When I was thinking about buying a new truck, I prented out the inventory list of Melton Sales in OK.

Here's the two trucks they have right now. I'veeven had my local dealertell me they're not supposed to sell them that cheap. I would drive a few hundred miles to save $7000!!!!

the deal i got on my truck that i got about 3 weeks ago. And thanks to the members of TDR came through and saved me thousands. Take the sticker price on the truck and take off 10. 5% and that gives you invoice. 2500$ discount. i got another 500$ off an internet coupon and another $300 for being a business, if you do business with farm bureau i think that is another 500$ plus the dealer has a 1000$ hold back. most will not give up the hold back but i would start out asking for half of the hold back. when negotating.

sticker price on the truck you are looking at

34389. 71

-3610. 91

30778. 79 =invoice

-2500 DC discount

-500 internet discount

27778. 79= the most you should pay for the truck

+any of the dealer hold back if you are good at negotiating and depending on the dealer. which is up to 1000$

dealers don't like things put in cold hard #'s like that they try to confuse you with smoke and mirrors, i ended up walking out of the dealership the first time after the salesmen brought out the sales manager and tried to confuse me. but i keep going back to my #'s and they really didn't like it. LOL but they later called me back the next day and made the deal with me. Nothing better than knowing the facts

Cummins Cowboy is exactly right!! Also use the Kelly blue book trade-in price to see what you should get for your old truck. You can get that on the Melton sales web site. I have a friend at the gym that just bought an 02 3500 4x4 QC that listed for around $37,000 it had 1500 miles (used as a demo) and they sold it to him for $27,800. He stole it, best price I have heard of for a new truck. I think you are now getting a feel for what you should pay :D

Ferguson Dodge in Norman Oklahoma is advertising on the radio $6000. 00 of MSRP on 02' CTD's.

Cummins Cowboy That's a pretty cool little town town you live in! I went through it on the first of July going to the Park!

That's high. Have a Truck Shopper right here, in S. E. PA. a dealers is offering a full-toot 3500 4x4 quad, etc for 32K plus change.

I just bought an '02 auto 4x4 that had a sticker price of 37985. 00 for an out the door price of 30110. 00. I bought it in Oregon so I will have to pay tax when I go get the tags for it here. I would say tell them what you are willing to pay and if they dont take it walk away and find another.

This really makes me happy that after it's all said and done, my final price was $41,959. 10 --- I guess the full boat warranty for 7/100 is good though. Also, I purchased it the day before Thanksgiving. I still haven't seen any deals as good as you guys are getting in other places up here in Michigan! Ohhh well, i'm still all :D behind the wheel!

Love my 2wd shorty

Mike, if you get that truck I think you'll like the combo. I really like the 2wd shortbed and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I bought mine with all options but leather and Travel Convenience Group in March 2000, came to $28,804. Auto option costs a bit more than ETH/6-speed (I think). While I didn't get the best deal in the world at least I got a hood liner & grab handles and real vanity mirror and tailgate applique and whatever else you don't get any more. . .

Wow, as long as you are happy :) You must of gotten a lot of add-on's and you took the 0% financing.

Last week at our steel erection co, one of our forman called me on the nextel and asked me about the deal he had gotten on a 3500 02 quad cab. All the bell and whistles. He had a ford 3/4 ton already dead to trade. After the factory rebate, dealers rebate, and all the other bates, he was allow 10K on his dead ford. He drove the 02 Ram home for $20K. Now thats a deal.

Sticker was $39,665 for the truck. Paid $37,585 for it. Then add roughly 2300 for tax and 2100 for 7/100 full boat warranty. They must have penalized me for trading in a half dead Y2K 2500 V10! :D

You should only have to pay sales tax on the difference between your trade and the new one? Looks like you paid sales tax on the full price? You must of been upside down in that V10  As long as you are happy, the CTD will last you a long time :D

I owed more on the trade then it was worth! They paid it off completely. So basically I bought the new one w/ nothing down. Kinda' like buying my first vehicle! Now it feels like two mortgage payments each month!! :D AHHHHH who cares!? I love my truck! :D It'll all be mine in... how many years was that??

Got my truck in the spring - had to order it of course... roughly $40k for sticker price, after the invoice pricing and rebates and such, only $33k - still happy with it and love it - will drive until the engine dies (in about 20 years!!)
