Well guys,

I had a chance to watch the developers of the VA C5 box this past weekend in action. I was very impressed with there knowledge and skill in tuning my truck via a lap top.

First off, I know a lot of people have asked about it and wondered if it was like "EFI Live". Yes and no. Yes, if you get the adjustable level C5 with the tuner option, you will be able to adjust your own parameters in the box. But no, it is not actually in the ECM itself like the EFI Live works. Also, I know some have asked about the RPM limit being raised. The guys that tuned the truck do not currently have it raised, and seemed as though they were not going to, but anything is a possibilty.

All in all, I have been very happy with the reults so far. A year ago I posted the 730 number from my truck and have done no other tuning to it since. This past week we tried the VA box on the dyno so they could get some data on a truck with twin turbos and big injectors.

I found out one thing. The injectors are apparently every bit as big as I thought Don M made them LOL. The truck made a base line with factory programming and no electronic aids of 547 HP. With the C5 module it made 723. 9 HP and the TQ curve increased to a calculated 1310 ft lb of tq. Previously it was slightly lower, around 1230-1240.

All in all I am very happy. I drove the truck home from the dyno shop 240 miles and averaged 20 MPG the whole way with the box in the kill mode. LOL Anyone that was in the NJ area with a common rail on Saturday missed out on a great time. There were only a few of us that showed up, but you would have had the chance to see a truck get tuned while on the dyno via the adjustable software.

I am going to run it a couple days and try to give some fair and honest feedback. I am not going to try to step on anyones toes. I just want to let everyone see the picture since some of this has been falsely labeled and misrepresented on more than one ocassion. Please do not turn this into a war thread. I just want everyone to get a chance to get a fair review of the BETA test of the unit.

So, the 547 was just injectors and everything else stock? Minus the turbos of course. So the tuning added 176. 8HP @ the wheels, those are some pretty sweet #'s Most chips can't claim that at the flywheel, let alone the tires. They have that tuning option for 2nd gen trucks? ;)

Keep in mind they are stil some larger injectors LOL. The pump itself will not add much power without the demand being there for it. The cam also typicaly does not make more peak HP, just more usable power and a better driving vehicle. The twins just supply the air to burn the fuel from the injectors. So yes, they are some bigguns

I understand that, the cam would just make you other mods work better. And the pump can only do so much if the injector isn't big enough to let the fuel in that the pump is delivering. It just came down to me not reading your original post thoroughly enough. (i do that alot) And the same with the turbos, alot of air is useless without adequate fueling. All in all, still some impressive software. 'course, when you are as computer illiterate as I am, all software looks impressive. :-laf

Sorry for jumping on your thread Lloyd but I figured that I would keep the runs together.

Dyno runs are for a 04 305/555 with VanAaken C5 module, intake, 4" exhaust, walbro, and II 62/14 turbo

#ad

Here is my run, 235 Cali SO, Flux2's, Floor it stage2, Helix 2, 64mm turbo

Blue run is no tuning, red is vA C5 custom tuning. The sheet shows the corrected #'s for that day. The cf was 1. 015, hence the 616/1163 in my sig.

Either way you look at it it's a 306. 9 increase from one box Oo.
