If I ever go back to the dealer, I will be sure to bring a tape-recorder and set it on the counter before the first word is uttered. With my Chevy lemon, recording the dialogue from the service reps and mgrs helped go a long way to getting my truck fixed. It was amazing that they forgot they were on tape and the lies they came up with.

piglet007,

Would you be willing to e-mail me or PM me the name of the dealer, i to am in the ST. Louis area and am going to be ordring a new 3500 in a few months i want to make shure i stay far away from this dealer, I have had good lock with a few Dodge dealers in missouri when it comes to service work but not to many.

I think I can post the name of the dealer. . ? I am only stating fact, and hopefully the few opinions I have sate are obvious as such. .

The dealer is Oliver C Joseph in Belleville, IL .

If you are looking for a good dealer to buy from, I had a very pleasant experience with Metro Chrylser in Columbia, Il. Their service department spilled a whole cup of coffee down the side of my center console, in between the seats, and on the floor, otherwise I would have taken the truck back to them. Their GM, Rich Konold, is who I bought the truck from - Very efficient and open. Of course, I walked in with the sheet and codes for them to order, and an offer of $500 profit for them. I know this was probably too much, but I didn't care, I was out of there in 30 minutes.

I still do not understand how they can deny warranty on this deal when the truck is still under warranty!

JeepCJsrule, Have some fun with this slob of a dealer. Go in to make a deal, waste an hour or so of the salesmans time and then say. "Oh yeah, you guys suck in your customer service"or words to this effect. :D ;) :D Maybe after a few shots like this this a-hole will get in line. Nah, probably not!

Almost 15,000 members in the TDR and a bunch more lurkers. A lot of them in piglet's area, I'm sure.

Send the dealership a link to this thread (or print it out and hand it to the service manager). If that doesn't get their attention, they don't deserve to be in business.

Long reponse.......

... ... I had a similar problem with a leaking gooseneck gasket for the radiator hose. Green coolant was sprayed all over the engine compartment. Would have cost me $3. 00 for a gasket but I took to the dealer and had them look at it because it was under warranty. Can you guess???? "CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM". What worthless morons. Finally called the service mgr who got rude and obnoxious with me. I told him to walk his a-- out and look at the truck and then tell me if he was blind enough he couldn't see the coolant leaking from the gasket. They called back an hour later and the truck was done.

As a result, I got a customer comment card mailed to me. I tubed him and his dealership over their stupid attitude... ... which included "you didn't buy it here", "cannot duplicate" and all the other usual crap we hear. One day I had another problem, and since I had no real choice due to logistics where to take the truck, I made an appointment. I drop the truck off..... and am told I am "BANNED FROM THE DEALERHIP"!!! I saw this on the service writers screen!!! Says he doesn't know why, manager isn't in (another lie, the cowardly weasel was there... ... . keep reading), and they aren't allowed to work on it.

I go back to the office with the truck, and find a voice mail with PROFANITIES all over it..... but no real message nor name of the caller... our phone system was able to trace it back TO THE SERVICE MANGER'S PHONE. Livid, I call him... ... ... . he tells me I AM BANNED FROM HIS DEALERSHIP. He says that "WE ARE A 5 STAR DEALERSHIP AND WHEN WE GET A NEGATIVE CUSTOMER RESPONSE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK ON THAT CUSTOMERS TRUCK AGAIN". I told him that even without checking this, I knew it was a lie, and that he had some stones leaving profanity on my voicemail... ..... he denied doing so, and I played it back for him on another phone (on speaker phone). I called the owner and DC's 800# and played it for both of them... ... ... . the 800 rep was stuttering and stammering not sure what to do..... I demanded to speak to the Zone Rep... ..... but they said that was up to the dealership. Never heard from the zone guy.

The owner of the dealership and I met a short time later at a TDR related function where we had a good conversation. He invited me back, said he'd take the info out of the computer, and apologized. I told him I accepted the apology, but it wouldn't do much good if the guy kept working there... ..... and that the little weasels bulldog mouth overloaded his parakeet a--, and some else who didn't have my temperment might just adjust his attitude for him in public.

Bottom line is that no one on their end cares. "They got theirs" and for everyone of us they run off, there are 10 more pigeons waiting to take our place. What is disgusting is that this place holds an annual gathering that many TDR folks attend, and Mr. Service Manager still works there.

The only reason I used the dealership once or twice since this fiasco was because I have no way to and from work if I drop the truck off anywhere else... ... ... . I have since had good luck with two service writers who have been really helpful.

Amazingly enough, the place I bought the rig from locally cleaned up their act big time (ruined my paint, and on and on... . didn't make it right. . THAT is another story) with serious personnel changes... . so much so I gave them a chance to fix my fuel sender under warranty. The gal (yep, a gal... . a kid actually) had her staff pick me up and drop me off back at the house so I can get another rig to head to work in... ..... and she spent quite a bit of time getting this approved under the emissions warranty (of all things. . who knew).

The dealership with the problems is in Oregon and sponsors TDR events. Anyone needing more please PM me.

Later

Well I got my truck back; seems they 'expedited the repair'... great! Now I have to suspect shoddy work.

Anyway... no leak yet, but I have noticed a change in the temperature. It seems to bounce between 190/180 all the time. It never really settles down. Was the factory thermostat a 180? Why would they have put a 190 in there?
