KORE Racing attacks Baja 1000 in a Cummins

well, for the US models, the cord is a ±$35 option on the dodges now [since 2004]...

i believe the canadian models still have it included [not an avalable option]

Umm,as of 2004,Dodge made it an option also, mine did not have the cord,I had to buy it,good news though, you can get it @ Genos for around $25 or something like that,or I think you can get it from Cummins for around $15.

Well, if you think about it, why shouldnt it be an option? (Funny I should even think this as its 9F as I type) How many trucks are sold in states that never get below 40F? Would you want to pay for an option that you would NEVER use?

On the other hand, my old '95 was ordered without A/C. I was the second owner, I couldnt hardly give it away (boy do I wish I had it back).

I guess my point is at least we have options. If we order a truck, we can order it pretty much the way we want it (within the limits of the "packages") Remember the good old days when everything was an option?

It's a diesel. It's going to travel... ... ;)

My thoughts are: If the owners manual states to plug it in, it better come with the plug.

Yes I would for just this reason

I think DC is getting cheap just like most manufactures - Cut jobs and cut costs anyway they can so the big guy makes more money. Sorry for the vent.

Anyway - So how much $$ do you think they actually save by making the heater cord a $10 purchase option. I believe they are hoping people forget to order it then sell that same cord for $35. BTW - They are available at Cummins for less if you forgot to order yours.

Even the "Bluebird" buses we get with the 5. 9 L Cummins, we have to pay extra for a plug in for the block heater.

That is ridiculous what's next optional grid's will they call it a winter package for dodge's and for fords optional glowplugs

On a related note- my 02 Excursion left the house today. . ON THE BACK OF A FLATBED. Some kinda fuel problem-kept getting air at the water drain. After bleeding, truck would run for a few min & quit. Hard to believe it gelled. (Same fuel in the Dodge did not gel. ) It was cold here past 2 nites, truck was outside, not plugged in. Which brings me back to the topic. . I would pay 40$ for someone to FIND the SOB plug. I went high & low, in and around everywhere-this truck does not have a plug. Ford dealer. . if you are reading this... I have a Dodge/Cummins to use. Take your time, fix it right, wash it, and, oh yeah, find the plug.

The next time you buy a new truck... just stop as your writing the check... "What. . no plug-in... the deals off"

I'll bet they have a plug installed before the ink dries... . no charge!!!

Your vent is perfectly understanded and you are 100% correct I think if you take D out of DC it might correct the problem

jtisdale unfortunately the GOOD OLE DAYS are long gone :{ for example a friend of mine said he heard that Freightliner dosen't offer anything but a Benz diesel in their smaller trucks like the FL60 & FL70 if this is true or not I don't know but it wouldn't suprise me at all beings that Freightliner is owned by Daimler :( or should I say run into the ground by Daimler just like Chrysler #@$%!

I live in Texas and don't it usually doesn't get real cold, but I still plug it in because my heater will work that much faster... . Also, I think it is better for the motor.

i've heard the same... i don't like the head on those small MB diesels... if you look at the head bolts, there is 14 on them. . :( essentially 4 per hole. our little isb's got essentially 6 per hole. . [we got 26 total]

Woh woh woh! Daimler has put over 1 billion into Chrysler. When Benz bought their share of Chrysler, they saved them from bankrupsy. Why is Chrysler using Benz Technology if they are "getting cheap. " From what I have heard through the grapevine, Benz may be seperating itself from Chrysler. It used to be all the stickers that came on the new Benz's said Daimler Chrysler, now they are saying Mercedes-Benz again.

As far as the Frightliners go... . Why can't they put their engines in their trucks? I'm supprised more big truck companies, (International) aren't doing the same thing. You want our truck, you get our engine. We can't buy our Dodges with a PowerJoke. Why buy a Frightliner with a Cat?

Maybe I'm playing devils advocate on the Frightliner thing.....

As far as DC goes... . D of DC has saved the C for the last 7 years.
