On my way back from IRP i noticed that the truck was kind of missing or surging, cutting in and out.

I have an 01 auto with Dtt tq, vb, smart control and TST comp, plus Fuel psi, transmission temp, Boost, pyro gauges.

I was running with the box on level 7. I have checked the wiring a coupe of times but still does it sometimes. If i step on it, it doesn't do it. I have changed the fuel filter and the fp gauge doesn't drop.

Im kind of stumped here. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. I started the "Blue, white and black smoke" thread. Try disconnecting your box - if you can. Sometimes, I guess, they need to be checked and updated.

I changed out my regular box for a comp box, and on the way back from INDY mine started doing the same thing also. It only dosent when i have it set above 4 and only when it is above 1700rpm, and when I'm accelerateing... ... ..... Any ideas???????

Does your RPM gauge drop a line when it surges if it does mine did the exact same thing ..... all I can say is contact BOB WAGNER Because mine did it for a while and then surged one day and then the temp gauge pegged and I was dead on the road FRIED ECM.

I hope for your guys sake thats not the problem

DieselMinded, what did you pay for a new ECM? Were you able to use the fried one as a core and just pay the $500 for the Catcher?

Your best bet is to try to find a loaner ECM you need to go out and with a screw driver pry off the ECM Identification plate and call Bob Wagner and give his your code #'s and he will hook you up one way or another he was a life saver for me. You need to know your #'s before you do anything ... if you have a local pal with matching #'s you could do a quick swap and see if the Surging goes away I think the Ecm #'s can be a Didgit off ... . you'll have to ask Mr. Wagner

Personally I sent my ECM to Marco and it was Beyond Repair ... ... (R-N-R also sent his Fried ECm to Marco who tried to fix it but it wouldnt work right on R-N-R's truck) ... ... I was using a loaner from Wagner then I bought a Full Catcher less than $800 after further use I decided It Wasnt the right Bomb for my aplication ... ... . That thing it Awesome ! but I persoannly feal its a Standard Transmission Owners Dream ... but I have a few other issues also... . Comp ... and Too Large of a ext housing ... I just got things all messed up..... So Wagner is going to sell me the Stock ECM and Im Sending the Catcher to either another customer or back to Wagner ... Not Decided yet.

Im in process of replacing the turbo Again and a few other goodies.

The Catcher is Great ... Period Its everything People say it is and more.

Get your #'s and contact Bob if you think its a possibillity that your Ecm is on its way out.

He is great to deal with and will get your truck back to 100% and then Some.
