Fuel shut off solenoid

My 93 with 208,000 cuts out sometimes after warmed up.

It usually happens at normal throttle. When I let off gas for few

seconds, problem goes away. If I floor throttle, it sputters and almost dies. I suspect it is the lift (transfer) pump. Engine starts instantly, even in near zero without block heater. It is an automatic. I bought from neighbor who passed away a week after I bought it from him, so I can't check on previous history.

Have noticed fuel odor after shutting off. How do I check lift pump? I have mechanical skills, but can't find info on checking. I am a new (and darned proud!!) TDR member. I tried search, but didn't find much. Would appreciate any help.

Welcome aboard, glad to have you. I had the same problem on my 89. The connector for the fuel shut off solenoid was rotted partially away and was just sitting loosely on the solenoid terminal. Crimped on a new connector and all is well.

Happy bombing and let the smoke roll.

Thanks for the info. I started truck and wiggled wires to solenoid. It made it cut out like it was doing. i took wires off, cleaned them up and gently sqeezed female end to make it grip better. Started back up and wiggled. NO MORE CUTTING OUT!! Will need to run around in it to make sure problem fixed for sure. Thanks so much!!It has paid for my subscription in my opinion. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks again! Max
