I have a 1998 24 valve 3500 standard transmission. truck runs fine when not loaded and when cold weather with load [my travel trailer]. when hot weather[ 85 degrees] pulling the trailer, it starts jerking the trailer bad. Had it checked at dodge dealer and no codes or problems. hooked on my trailer went for a drive with the teck and his protable machine. drove for 50 miles, no problem. of course it was a cool morning. just wondering if any one else has had this problem.

has 100,000 miles on it.

Hard to say with no codes showing. I would check ALL battery and ground connections, load test your batteries if they arent new, and if you dont find anything there do an apps reset.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Its important to have a constant 14 psi minimum to your injection pump. If your starving your injection pump under load, that could also cause bucking .

I dont have a fuel pressure guage. I checked the pressure and it was 15 psi at idle. I am new at this, so what is an apps reset. I will clean ground connections.

On a hot day I did get it to cut out a little at 90 miles an hour without the trailer. I have a fass lift pump I insalled a year ago. I also changed the fuel filter which didn't help.

If the apps reset doesnt work, maybe you can take your tech for a ride with his scanner on a warmer day? Depending on where you live that may or may not be feasible this time of year.

Thank you for the information. I will do what I can for now, but unsless things get worse it will be nex year befor eI pull my trailer again and it is hot weather

thank you for the information. unless things get worse I probably wont know any thing untill next year when I pull my trailer again and it is hot weather.
