D-Max jealousy?

Thanks, TDR Staff

Hi mileage

Real Truck!!!

C,mon guys- just admit it. It's good lookin', quiet, and when you drive it hard, it leaves a smile on your face. All the qualities a man loves.

Jealous???????

Jealous of what?

- A truck that has niether good looks nor a proven track record?

- A truck that has no useful ground clearance.

- An engine that has too short a stroke to generate torque where you can use it efficiently and also has no track record.

- Quiet, who needs quiet. I didn't buy my truck hoping it would be quiet or to have it ride like a car. GM owners can deny it all they want, but the only way you make a truck ride smoother is to take the "heavy duty" out of it.

No, I am not jealous, but I am dissapointed. I have yet to encounter one out on the highway. When I do Mr. Duramax is going to be on the receiving end of some serious humiliation.

:D :D

Who said those are the features I want in a truck? Besides, it only leaves a smile on my face if it's loud, crude, capable, and blows everything else out of the water.

I had a friend with a chebby... it had the IFS front end. It was junk!

Broke alot. CV joint boots always tearing apart. Rubber boots on a truck that goes off road is not always the best answer and are not as durable as a u-joint.

I personally like the DMAX moter. It does have a RB injector pump BTW. Just like us... different model of course.

I will prolly keep my 12 valve a long time because I grew up with noisy diesels and like them. We are all gonna get a big surprise when the cummins goes common rail, most of us are not gonna like it.

I am reading alot of posts on different boards about the problems with the DMAX and I think all new designs will have some hiccups from the get go.

We all kinda seem to get this brand war going alot... . remember that competition is what makes the manufacturers develope better products. Cummins might not be the engine it is if detriot, mack, etc had not been there with other products. Everytime a new G2 Flowerpoke or Dmax motor come out we all can be happy because the Cummins will have to be made that much better to compete.

Don~

Once again, administrators, I think we need a separate "Flame Forum" where there are no rules except no bad/obscene language. I think it would be entertaining and fun. Everyone who wanted to flame someone or something could use it.

How about it?

DURAMAX

I was out at the local dealership yesterday, my girlfriend is looking for a used 4X, we were cruising through the lot, it just so happened that I knew the saleslady that was helping us. She knows I drive a CTD, and she said, "here Mark, look at this duramax", so I hoped in it and started it up. It is nothing like our CTD's. It cranked over about 4,795 times and finally started running. All I have to say is this, my Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner sounds more radical than this engine! I bet it even has more torque too :D , she told me to go and drive it, I declined. I love my CTD. :D :D :D

Nope, to be a real truck it has to be BIG, LOUD, have a Cummins, and have that definitive "truck ride"! If I wanted a truck that looked/sounded/drove like a car, I'd have bought a hearse :D ;)

Does this guy mean all the things a woman wants? Actually my girlfriend likes my truck almost more then me. She is the only thing that can put a bigger smile on my face then my Cummins.

Quiet? If we really wanted a quiet truck would so many of us stright pipe the exhaust? ;)

Good lookin it aint. I would rather drive the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile.

If I wanted to have a smooth ride I'd get a Caddy.

Just my $. 02

The Cheby's are advertised in the paper here for 5000 off. The paper here has the dealer selling them "AT COST". I still don't want one that bad. One more thing..... At 2500 RPMs the Cheb goes out of the "stealth" mode and becomes a smokey, rattlin' diesel. I like the sound of my truck. The power, economy, stability and good looks are the rest of the reasons why I bought it.

The one thing I like about this site is the professionalism of its members!!!!!! Start a flame on the "OTHER SITE" and watch the babies cry:rolleyes:

Ummmm, nope. If I had thought that about the Duramax, I would have bought one (see signature).

Rusty

I owned a chevy diesel (6. 5TD) and because of that bad experience I will never own another GM product. A good friend of mine just dumped his 6. 5TD and got a Cummins Ram also. All he talks about is how much power the Cummins has. This guy was a die hard Chevy man, but due to the way he was treated by GM over his 6. 5, in his words... . " It will be a long time before I ever buy another GM product again"

Jealous... . NOT

Cummins = Durability

I hereby issue a challenge to ALL DURAMAX OWNERS. If your dial reads 8125 Hours and 380,000Km without any engine repairs, You have my permission to actually call it DURA max. So far Dura is NOT proven.

Cummins... Since 1918 wasn't it???

They are finished experimenting with diesel, heck, they wrote the book.

Jealous? NO. Envious? NO. Want to gamble with a Company who has a proven track record of releasing engines / vehicles without adequate testing? NO. Buy ANYTHING from GM? NO. Buy a "HD" truck with girlish IFS? NO. <------- D. C. pay attention here!!

Texas Diesel. I maybe wrong, but isn't Dodge going to use a different suspension, similar to IFS in 1/2 tons in 2002? I believe I read or saw something about a different setup.

Interested? YES...

Curious? Yes...

"JEALOUS"? HEII *NO"!

If I *wanted* a dern DM, I'd go out and BUY one! I can afford pretty much ANY brand truck I want, so WHY would I sit slobbering in jealousy over the DM here on the sidelines if I really WANTED one?

I'm ALSO curious and interested in the Ford PS trucks as well, and NO, I not "jealous" of them either, nor do I WANT one!

I understand the trolling intent of this thread - but it's humorous to note that the "jealousy" angle is the first bleat the insecure and fear-filled GM bunch tosses into the ring when anyone is critical of their trucks.

HEY GM dudes, read my sig to see what I'm happy to drive for the present, and rest assured, if *I* wanted one of the GM "Disasters", I'd be in the driver's seat of one!;) :D :p
