Specs on pics for readers rigs?

anyone hear about problems with the duramax inj pump going (. )(. ) up because of using a chip to up the power. a guy i know tried the adjustable bullydog chip, adjustable from 20 to 80 hp. he ran it for 3 weeks at 20 hp increase then tried it for a few minutes at 80 hp increase. the seals went out of the inj pump. he removed the chip before hauling it in to gm for warranty work. he then loaned the chip to a friend and immediately his friends pump seals went.

sounds like gm has got to do some more improving on their city boy rig.

We will need the serial number, vehicle I. D. number, D. O. T. numbers off of the tires, Sworn affidavids (sp) from all involved, lie detector test results, seman sample, stool sample, and your last three years 1040 long forms. :D :p :D :p  If all of this still cannot verify said results, then it is obviously false and never happened!!!!!

I know that this response will make it's way over to the chebby site so I will apologize in advance !!!!!! NNNNNOOOOOOTTTTTT

I'm still trying to figure out why someone would add a chip to the most powerful engine that ever came out of a aluminum can recycling plant...

You forgot one thing, if they dont WANT to hear it than it does not exist. Isnt there a song about "living in denial"??

I think the problem with that power play is they raise the fuel presure to give more power. The common rail is already under very high presure so that must have something to do with it. BD has a new box out that does not raise fuel presure to get power and gives 70 hp and 160 tq.

You also did not note moon alignment when getting this info so it must be a fairy tail... .

hmmm wow, the fuel pump died when you raise discharge pressure past its design limit... Gee imagine that.

The problem here is not with the engine, but the power chip that was put on the engine!

Guys, we really need to watch our butts... the Dmax could possibly hand it to us. Some of the posts I have read here about "beating an empty Dmax while the CTD was loaded" just made me roll my eyes in disgust... what a complete line of BS.

Stick to the hard facts guys, we are starting to look like a bunch of whining little girls.

The Dmax "my buddies friends uncle's brother in law's truck did this" rumor mill is getting out of hand.

Dmax not hard to beat...

If you do the match book calcs on the HP vs. boost from stock to now after I have done just slight mods and calculate torque, I already will be holding my own with these v8's... Dyno day is comin for me on the 15th so I will see whats true. From my numbers I get 535Ft-lbs at the flywheel at 1500 Rpm... Now this is totally up for dispute, but its not hard to do. . I'll never win a race and thats OK, but come on 8% grades!!!!

Now to drag race a short strokin V-8, forget it. The balance has to be way over in HP in our favour to keep up, not to mention I shutdown at 2800, heck they aren't even shifting gears yet...

As for the pump leaks, we are going to face the same battle when the CTD goes common rail. . The technology has to be there and not just a backyard box to up the power. .

MHO:rolleyes:

Where are all you guys even seeing these D-M's? The only new Chebby trucks I see are gassers... even the big duallies. Of course, it's hard to tell with no smoke, no noise, no badges, and that tiny little phallic-excuse for a tail pipe... I'm sure they're a nice driving truck, and pretty darn quick too... if all you haul are groceries. If you didnt want an SUV, and you didnt need a hauler/workhorse, why buy a thirsty V8 gasser? The D-M is probably a pretty decent choice in that case.

I drove one a few months back. They are a quick truck when they are empty. I would love to test one with a manual so I could get an idea of exactly how the engine runs at lower speeds.

I have seem a few here in town (look for a red and silver "DURAMAX" badge above the 2500 HD badge) and at the local dealers, but for 45K I think they will be sitting on the lot for a while.

i hardly see any around these parts. the owner of the d-max i previously mentioned is the only one around i know personally that owns one.

most folks around here that buy a hd 3/4 ton or 1 ton with a diesel, want a real truck with a solid front axle.

I have seen more Avalanches than Duramaxes. I didnt think there was such a market for butt ugly trucks. Is it a truck???

and guys

what a friend, who knowingly gave the chip to his friend after what it did to his truck so that they both dont have a truck to drive LMAO

JConley,

I hear you!! I know that this is a little off topic, but the Avalanche is the ugliest pseudo-truck that I have ever seen!! Same goes for the Aztec. Boxy, thick-looking, no shape pces of s**t! I hate the styling that alot of the manufacturers are using, with sharp arcs cutting through the body lines. (i. e. f**d focus and cougar). Compare these to the Ram, Dakota, Viper, PT Cruiser, etc. Nice and smooth and swoopy!

Sorry, Just venting

BDs test Dmax that Brian drives had the same thing happen to it with the dynamite box on it. It seems to be a growing pain that Isuzu has to deal with. Either way, sending more fuel to any given engine means raising the fuel pressure in the fuel lines or rails, so just sending a timing advance is not gonna do it.
