Bungee junping? :-laf Hear of some pretty old people doing it and loving it. Would be fun 'til has both of grandmas hips break and her leg come off. :O :-laf

I like Josh's idea.

Lets see, your dad was born in 1916. Way cool. Things that people of that era like are a letter from a loved one. Not an email or a phone call but a letter. They like family closeness, give your Pop's a hug and tell him you love him. Would mean more to him than all the money in the world. Get a tape recorder and tape all of his memoirs for family postiarity(sp). Just a couple ideas from when I took care of my elder parent.

Viagra? Sorry, that was too easy.

Something he wouldn't buy for himself. I have gotten my parents home depot gift cards, that way they can get whatever they want.

I like the letter idea. And the fishing idea (unless he's a member of PETA).

Aren't there any 90 year old members here who could speak about what a 90 year old wants for his birthday?

One of my father's fondest memories was eating Black Walnut ice cream when he was a boy. He was telling me he couldn’t find it locally and it had been over thirty years since he had any. Last birthday (his 89th) I called almost every ice cream parlor in the Midwest to track some down.

I showed up with five gallons of the stuff in a huge cooler – his eyes glowed like a little kids. He then threatened anyone (including me!) who got near the freezer with bodily harm if they touched his ice cream!

There may be a memory you can renew for your father as well.

Really, he had as much fun watching my brother and I cutting up at the dinner table like we used to do when we were kids.

Beyond that, the best gift you can give him is your time...

The best thing to get aging parents is something you wish to inherit shortly... ... . ;)

Example:

Just for you Dad!! A NEW TURBO!!!!

I like the ice cream idea-find something he truly loves/misses, from the old days, and track it down.

I would bet he would like just spending a day w/you one on one doing something you both enjoy. I bet he got some great stories to tell.

I would like to be the first to apologize for Mr. Puller's one-tracked mindedness. :-laf
