Allright, I need your advice. My problem is this, I want as "user friendly" of a clutch as I can get (that will hold the most power) Obviously I want my cake and to eat it too:-laf I have a grumpy ole' NV5600 that shifts like crap anyway, and have heard a Double Disk makes em' shift even worse. But if I put an OFE in I cant hook to the sled??? There are a couple of yay-hoos in my town that pull with stock clutches, so I'm thinkin if I upgrade to an OFE why cant I hook with it??? Anyways, just thinkin out loud. Give me your opinions... ... Help me dicide... . Joe

Sledpull with an OFE? nope, no way, well... you can, once or twice...

If you did you would need to idle off the clutch and then hammer it, once the turbo lit you would blow through that clutch like a candle in the wind

I daily drive my spring hub 3600lb 12-puck, and I'm a 160lbs little guy - Its not bad at all. Heck my wife can drive it.

It isnt a nightmare to get into gear??? Thanks for the reply dude, sounds like Im gonna have to go that route cause I want to hook it a couple times a year.

P. S. your left leg is probably 140 lbs..... :-laf

I have a hybrid that Peter put together for me because two of his other DD clutches broke.
It is a solid hub DD with a diaphragm sprung pressure plate.
this clutch is easy to drive in most cases. much better than earlier lever types.
I have numerous 3rd gear launches W/n2o and no slippage.
The clutch is a little touchy when backing a large trailer, it just requires a little more patience.

i drive my DD everyday. the pedal is alittle stiffer than my OFE was but its not bad at all. my girlfriend loves to drive the truck. she has no issues with it at all.

I daily drive my Mitchell DD and have been for the past 2-3 years, the upgraded hydraulics are stiffer than stock, but not much more. I've got 3-4 hooks on it without slipping, a few 3rd gear launches and alot of towing and when I had it out a month or two back the friction discs had minimal wear.

With that being said, how is it going into gear. I think thats what Im most worried about. My trans is already a PIA to get into 2nd and sometimes 4th. Ive got a strong left leg, so that will be alright, just heard storries of huys having to feather the clutch pedal and having to double clutch to get into gear. I think JWilliams3 has discussed this in an earlier post but cant remember.

You pretty much nailed it. Every trans is different though... some go in easy some take a little finesse.

as long as my pedal is adjusted correctly (you can turn the rod to adjust engage padel hieght, BUT there is a sweet spot)... . It is pretty good getting into 2nd...

1st is easy for me if I put in 2nd, then in quick motion go into 1st. Your current troubles sound like maybe your clutch hydraulics are sub-par already.

I have NEVER had to feather the clutch to get it in gear - heck with that noise

I agree, JWilliams told me earlier I need to upgrade hydraulics, and from what Ive read it seems that I will have to. Plus my trans is brand new, just got a re-man from Chrysler, probably a little stiff right now.
