History lesson on how BIG OIL was screwing our

My buddy was telling me the other day how Wal-Mart screwed one of his friends over not too many years ago. He had a small business making some sort of seasonal niche market decorative doodads and Wal-Mart came along and showed interest in his product. They made a deal with him to make a large quantity of a couple of his items, so he hired on more people, equipment and materials to fill Wal-Mart's order. Then Wal-Mart decided renig on the deal even though they had a contract. After some time with this large stock of product that would take years to sell Wal-mart comes back and offers pennies on the dollar. Since he didn't have a lot of alternatives he ended up selling to them at a huge loss. They didn't care about the breach of contract, they told him they do it all the time, that's what their lawyers are for.

This guy lost out big, since Wal-Mart jerked the carpet out from under him it killed his business and he was worse off than when he started.

There's no doubt that every business engages in unethical practices to a degree, but I believe Wal-Mart tops them all in the retail sector.

You're right, i shouldn't have used the word "cuts", more like what i said later- price stays the same while steel goes up.

The whole reason benefits were started after WWII (i think that's the right time frame) was to increase the salary of a job, without having to pay as much. The majority of companies were short on cash at this time.

I know benefits have gotten expensive, but it's still cheaper than paying more cash(source-WSJ).

Anyways, Wal-Mart hardly hurts our economy IMO. Yes, it takes a lot of character out of small towns by shutting down shops, which beleive me, i value as much as any one, but it does provide a great place for getting what you need w/o paying much and it's also a great investment at 24% growth.

And for EXO's making so much money- anybody that brings in billions of dollars, earns his large paycheck. Not everyone can run a fortune 500 company. If you had your money invested in a company, i'm sure you wouldn't mind paying top dollar to make sure it gets handled right.

just my . 02

jsut read what Vaughn wrote- that is one thing that should some how be put to a stop. Our justice system was supposed to help everyone, but it really does come down to who has the most money/lawyers. I think that's something that the SEC or congress needs to address, but it will probably never be fixed.
