How do you check for codes

Anyone have any experience with them or thoughts? They advertise a triple guage which displays EGT, Boost, and transmission temp. Soulds great--am looking to install guages and would be nice, one guage on a pod mount. Non-obstrusive etc. Would appreciate any of your thoughts/advise--pro and/or con.

Thanks

I had the digital Fuel Pressure and EGT gauges on my '99 and liked them. I like the digital readout verses a dial readout. The gauges are still on the truck and working well, even though I don't own the truck any more.

When I get ready to put gauges on my '05, they will be a consideration.

I will say as a con, that the initial setup took a little effort on my part. It was not intuitive and the instructions were not clear to me. It could just have been me.

You will find that most here like the dial gauges and Dakota Digital is not that popular, but I thought they worked well and like them.

They look like pretty neat gauges, but I have never used them.

If you want to look at another multi gauge type setup, check this out.

It will do all of the above parameters, plus a whole bunch more. The base price is the same except you also have the ability to add fuel pressure, rail pressure and a lot of other functions. IT also records min/max values.

It does not currently fit in a single hole gauge mount, but you can mount it anywhere you see fit. It is not that big although it has a big screen. You can choose to watch 1,2,3 or 4 parameters at once.

The Commander looks like something that will solve a lot of issues with its competition and does not require a turner to mess with the ECM. I assume that you have to run all the same kind of lines as a reqular gauges?

Posting of the installation instructions would answer a lot of questions not on the web site.

Thanks for any additional information.

I have the Fuel pressure up and running, and I like it a lot. I will be hooking up the EGT gauge when I get the truck back from the shop.

I had no problems with the setup at all. . perhaps newer instructions.

The instructions are going up pretty darn quick. We are adding some more pictures for the instructions on the web and it covers to many vehicles that it is taking a little longer than expected.

For EGT, Trans, and Fuel Pressure we use external senders that are included with the kits. For Boost, Coolant, Rail Pressure, and RPM you just connect a single wire to the sensor and we translate it. This way is very accurate and fast because the ECM does not have to process the data and update the bus. All hardware and fittings if needed are included.

Then there is a power and ground. We supply a fuse tap to install on the fuse box and then show you a recommended ground location.

Also just FYI we use connectors on our leadwire for the thermocouple. I have a personal problem with the dang little screws and nuts to connect most leadwire so I have a plug on the thermocouple and a plug where it connects to the gauge! It is a personal thing, but it cuts at least 10 minutes out of the installationa and you do not have to worry about them touching or moving and all that junk.

That is it.

For the info that is on the bus that people may want, we are building an accessory that will retrieve that data as well as read and erase codes. That accessory is just not finished yet.

Also for the record, I think that the DD or really any 2" gauge fits nicely where the cig lighter goes, but I use that too much on my truck for accessories.

my pyro is there currently... eventually that will be relocated and a 0-150 air pressure gauge will fill that hole.

CFulton, I have this exact setup and love it, very fast reacting and no problems so far. Dakota Digital makes great quality gauges. Here is a link to my write-up on the install. Pic's of the gauge in my sig.
