I am wondering what, if anything all of the exhaust smoke I see from my truck is doing any excessive damage to the engine. As you can see from my signature I have the Bully Dog power pup on my truck. I really like the performance but every time a step down hard on the pedal there is a lot of exhaust smoke. Should I run any injector cleaner or other additive to my fuel to reduce any possible build up in the engine or injectors?? Probably a dumb question but I am new to diesels and I love the truck and the performance I get with the pup, so if there is any suggestions I would like to know

Thanks Donn

Hey Donn;

Be happy! Smoke Good!

The way I read your post you get lots of smoke just after you tromp on it no?

The smoke clears after the revs come up?

If the above is true, it is just unburned fuel dumped in by the Bully dog. When the timing advance and the turbo catch up the smoke clears yes?

Its sop for a diesel and is called turbo lag.

If you go easy on the loud pedal till the revs come up you should not get the attention of the smoke cops.

Enjoy, Nightwing

I'm in trouble is smoke is bad :( Just like Nightwing said... "Be happy! Smoke Good" :-laf It won't hurt anything or half the trucks here would be on the side of the road. There's nothing like a little smoke screen in the middle of the intersection :D

Thanks for the information. The truck does only smoke when I first step on it. If i go into it slower just minor smoke. It runs great on the 90hp setting no other issues. Again Thank you for your expertise
