I own a 2nd gen truck with the Dana 60 front end which doesn't have the locking type hubs for disengaging the wheels. Chrysler decided it was o. k. to rotate the parts all the time. What I would like to know, are the W350 (1ton) front axles equipped with hubs that can be locked out or are they the same as the 2nd gen. with no way to add the feature. Thanks

The first gen stuff won't work on the 2nd gens. First gens have a king pin style setup, while the 2nd gens have ball joints. Dynatrac has a kit out to convert your 60 front to lockout hubs and no CAD but its real expensive. I have heard that ford dana 60 knuckles will go onto the dodge 60. Dunno what years, probably late model that has ball joints.

Thanks for the replies. I called Dynatrac, and to date have no kits for converting the 1 ton duallies over to hubs. This is when I got the idea the 1st gen. truck hubs might work, but ball joints and king pins don't mix. I'll have to pursue the Ford thought; my Dodge will buck like crazy trying to put a Ford part on it!:)

Would be more fabrication involved but you could put an older D60 from a late 70s ford in. Would have to weld all the required bracketry on and set it up.

there are a couple of manufacturers that will build you a whole new axle assembly with the brackets on it. . depending on where you are at and what you can get for your front axle it may cost a couple of grand but you end up with something that parts are cheep for and will last forever... and no more one peice wheel bearings... .

the other option is buy a first gen!!!!!!!. . everyone here likes them... .

Thanks for the help, I'll have to look around to see who does that. I haven't given up on this idea yet, I give up hard. I always liked the looks of the 1st gen trucks. They just rode a little rough for me with the front leaf springs vs. the 2nd gen with coils. I have a physical condition that I can't stand much jarring, so my truck even sports an air seat so I can ride in it.

Thanks again
