Taking the tie rod down was easy and no problems with the rest of the cover installation BUT I do have a question. When I replaced the tie-rod end I torqued the nut to 80 FT LBS. and went past just enough to align up the cotter key now it seems like the ball joint is not taking grease at the zerk like before goes in very hard. Is the nut to tight? Thanks

TurboTerry:

I just installed my front cover a couple weeks ago dropped the Tie Rod as you did and per the manual torqued to 80ft lbs and while I was there I greased the three zerks and I didn't have trouble getting it in but most of it damn sure came out on two of the three. Just sort of oozed out the zerk over the next couple of hours. Thought that maybe, dangerous I know, that the little check ball in there (if there is one) did not return back to seal well. I tried everything I could think of to reseat it but to no avail. It did stop but I think only because there was no more left to come out. I am now worried that they are not greased well and am seriously considering changing out those zerks with new ones.
