2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Dana 70/80 axle shafts

Dana 70/80 axle shafts (where to find them?)

Im having a huge brain fart here. My axle housing is out getting fixed right now and all i'll need to get the truck up and running again is one axle shaft. I know where there's a dana 80 from a 94 3500 and im sure i can get the shaft from it.



But,,,,,, are they the same spline as a 70?

Im havin a really hard time finding an axle shaft anywhere but the dealer. And they want $280 (discount). Anyone know where to get them online or know of anyone who sells them on the east coast? Thanks

Jeff make double sure its a 70 and not a hybrid 80.



I think auto's came with the 70 (your truck) and 5spds came with the hybrid 80 I'm sure somebody can figure that out.

The axle i mentioned in my first post was definately a dana 80. It came out of a burnt 94 3500 dually my dad bought. I just could'nt remember what spline the 80 axles were.



I can't beleive how hard it is to find an axle. Either noone stocks em or they can't get em for a week or two. I gotta get the truck back together for memorial day!

If you go to Fritz`s Dodge Ram Tech you'll find the D-70 HD and the D-80 Hybird both have 1. 50 inch 35 spline axles along with the 3500 D-80.

it's been down since early december :{

But now that the house is done and im moved in it's time to get er up and running again. I got the housing back on thursday and managed to get the old races out of the hub and the new ones in. Now all i need is wheel cylinders and an axle.



Oh and i got a new toy this mornin! A 92 250 CTD 4x4!! Run's like a million bucks and there aint a thing wrong with it that i've found so far. It's an auto though

A lot of 70s, and some 60s had 35 splines. Our 80s have 35, but other brands used 80s with 37 splines, I believe.

Personally I'd rather have the auto in a 1st Gen, all I have ever read is that the 5spd's were trash.



My next truck will be a 98-99 2wd 3500 Auto to haul around the TN Limo. :-laf Dave Goerend makes good parts for 'em for a good price!



I am seriously starting to wish I had bought an auto when I got this truck though.
