How do you tell if you have a Dana 70 or 80, the front dif in my 92 W250 is marked 60F, I've looked all over the rear and nothing, I do have what appears as a part # on the inspection cover but I figured that was for it alone, there are so #'s in the axle tube area but they are hard to read, anyone know?

My W250 is D60/D70, front and rear, respectively. From what I understand, the 250's are D70 equipped and the 350's are D80. Try checking for an eblem under the hood. There are axle ID's and other info on it.

There is usually a data plate under the front edge of the hood... It will tell you your ratio's and which diff it is... . and Dana is the one they all came with... 60's in the front and 70's in the back.

pb...

With the exception of the Dana 70 3. 07 ratio, and someone can correct me if I am wrong on that please. There is a casting on the differentials, off to the lower right side of the diff cover I believe, there will be a 60,70 or 80 casting, a protruding casting not a stamp. Might be caked over with grease, dirt, mud etc. Check it out. If the ID tag was not removed by someone it would be a thin metal strip approx. 3/4" x 1 1/2", should be on one of the diff cover bolts. The gear ratio would be on there. Then there is the Bill of Material stamping on one of the axle tubes, I forget which one. That info you could look up at Dana/Spicer website, say if you suspected someone swapped in a different axle etc.
