yes, I was in there to change the fluid, and the plug came off with my bare hands!!! I kick myself for not noticing the tell-tale oily buildup around it, seems no harm done, but watch for it.

The dealer that takes delivery is supposed to an all points check when they come in, this would also include checking all fluid levels too, it most likely happened at your dealer, prolly some punk kid that has no pride in his work, I would check the whole truck from front to back if I were you, I would also go back to the dealer and ask to see a copy of that check list on your truck, maybe the dealer would get on the kid and it may not happen again.

There is a post up now that a fellow TDR buddie lost the rearend in his truck and it turns out it had NO OIL in it, it missed getting lubed at the factory and getting checked at the dealer.

Crap like this is why I prefer to do all my own work.

cheers, Kevin

Whitmore is right. The dealer gets paid by the factory to do the PDI (pre delivery inspection). They are supposed to check all fluid levels. The 1st thing I always do when I get a new truck in the garage is go over everthing, bumper to bumper. After working in a full line GM dealership you learn things like this. Spooky huh?

What Phil said...

I don't leave anything to someone who gets paid to do things fast rather than well.

I get under there with a creeper and familarize myself with where the plugs, covers and such are located and check for tightness on them all.

I actually love crawling under my new truck, it's a bonding thing... :D
