I'm not sure how you would upgrade with OEM parts... the backing plates are welded in completely different places, and are completely different in themselves... . I don't see how you can physically make it fit on the stock backing plate, either..... Just my observations... The aftermarket caliper E-brake is similar to the older units used on tractors I've worked on before. Very reliable short term, but parking overnight may not be ideal. And adjustment is critical to prevent damage when changing pads or servicing due to the minimal movement design... .

The tech guy at Blackbird said the same thing... . that the e-brake caliper is sub-standard in quality and performance and unless you use it consistently, it will require repetitive adjustments. After he told me that, I'm torn between scrapping the idea of ever having an e-brake or taking a chance and getting the e-brake calipers. TDR member Vaughn MacKenzie ordered the kit and took pics of it..... the backing plates are 3/8" steel!http://s113.photobucket.com/albums/n...post photos/

Yep. I think we discussed it briefly in one of your other threads... . The kits look pretty good, I can't say much against them other than the parking brake function of the caliper. On the old tractors I've seen, they worked off a flywheel on the forward driveshaft, which was linked with the rear, too. They have HUGE pistons in the caliper, though, so it wouldn't take much pressure to make them really stop, which is what you're after!!!

I am looking at both drum and disk brake rears. Both have bolt on backing plates and both appear to be mounted in the same locations. It appears to be a simple swap.

... until you measure the inboard and outboard measurements... :( The hardware will bolt up in different locations in relation to the drum/disk.....
