I have an open dif. Dana 70 3:55 gears

I'm going to go with a detroit locker if they are availible, or______?

(anyone have a connection?)

I am having the axle tubes trued and welded to the center section. Mine leak.

(any pro's or con's to this mod?)

With my motor and trans being bombed I'll be abusing the the 70.

(What will I be breaking next now that I'll be spinning both 33" tires. )

Actually the better question is

(What will happen if the tire's don't spin when I mash the throttle?). What will explode next?

Bomber on a budget (have now learned to do it right the 1st time) save $$$$$$ then spend$$$$$.

transmission, U-joints, driveshaft(s), ring 'n pinion(s), yokes, axle shafts... . all are pretty vulnerable when you 'hookup' with high power.

All the items HoleshotHolset said. Plus axle housing also. If you do a search on my name you can find a pic of a model 70 I droped out of my truck that was bent.

Bob the 70's are hard to find a locker for, supply and demand and they are back logged, I've been trying to get a lock-rite for mine since Sept. and gave it up to try and find a true locker now. I'll tell you who can find you one, Piers. I called and talked to Harry last week and he had one found in 15 Min, make sure you get the stamped code off the axle before you call.

When changing to a locker you should go a head and switch the axles to 35 spline shafts and this make your options larger for locking diffs. The pinion in 2ND gen Rams is . 625" offset. I would also recomend going with a "Detriot Locker" for strength and value.

Would those 35 spliners be Dana 80 or?

I need to start gathering parts.

I've made up my mind to go with the Detroit.

Will the Axle bearing's be differnt?

thanks
