On what years of Dodge and Ford Trucks was the Dana 80 used? Looking for an 80, and the local yards have to know an application, and year of manufacture for the vehicle. I seem to remember in 2003 Dodge switched to a different brand. Thanks in advance.

So did you wear out your 70? I run Amsoil 140 in my 70 and tow a 12K 5er, runs nice and cool. SNOKING
 
Any Dodge diesel or V-10 with a manual will have a Dana 80 in it. You'd probably want to stay away from the dually axle as they are different widths. Changing to a Ford Dana 80 would probably be a pain too unless you change over to the Dodge brakes and backing plates etc. From what I've heard the AAM axles area bolt in but would probably require some work for the brakes.



As a note I just put a 99 dually axle in my truck which is a 01 dually and it is almost a direct swap except the parking brake cables are different.
 
SNOKING, actually the Dana 70 is just fine. Looking for an 80 for a pulling truck, and didn't know if a Ford dana 80 would be the same as a DC dana 80, if I had to do some fabrication to make a Ford 80 work that would not be a problem as the truck sits at a fabrication shop. I have a lead on 3 axles at least 2 are from a Ford. Will be checking them out Monday after work. Thanks again.
 
I might have this backwards but I think only the dually Fords have the Dana axle, if the truck is single rear wheel I believe it gets a Sterling axle.
 
I have found 4 Dana 80 Axles, two are from a ford van ( the lugs are longer for a dually, must have been a cargo van. ) and the other two were not marked when the salvage yard removed them. One has extremely short lugs, maybe 1" or less in length, and the drum brake assembly is much narrower compared to the others. I have measured my 70 currently on my truck and will go back to see if one of the others would fit. Like I said the axle perches and shock mounting points don't really matter as I can remove them and reweld to fit my application. Now I am just wanting to make sure that the other axles I have found are not to narrow for my truck. ( don't know if axle tubes are the same length for different applications )
 
In Dodge applications the 3/4 ton dana 80 is the widest, the dually is a couple inches narrower and the cab and chassis axle is even narrower than that. I'm not sure on the Ford applications.
 
not picking up what wms stands for? out side of axle or backing plate to backing plate or wheel bolting surface to wheel bolting surface etc etc. .
 
Hold on guys, I only was asking what years the dana 80 came in. I have found one from a 2001 Dodge Dually and it is now sitting in my shop. Teardown starts tomorrow, to build it for the pulling truck. I believe wms is wheel mounting surface. Thank you to all who have replied.
