Hi

I need to know the width of a dana 80 for a dually pick-up and the width for the cab and chassis. I did a search and couldn't find it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Steve

C&C rear tire outside width is 86. 6 in. The width listed for 3500 with bed is 93. 6 in. , I guess the extra width is the fenders. This is from a 99 spec sheet. bg

It doesn't give the flange to flange dim. The inside tire dim. is 49. 4 in. If you subtract that from the outside dim. then divide by four wouldn't that give you the width of one tire/wheel? Then add two of those to the inside dim. should give you the center of the wheels to center of wheels. Subtract the thickness of two wheel from that and that should be the flange to flange dim? bg

A cab & chassis axle is approximately 6" narrower than a regular dually. I will try to get you an exact measurement tomorrow off of the one I am trying to sell. -Nicholas

What is a cab and chassis axle, when truck doesn't come with a bed? So am I understnding you correctly, you are providing dually to dually compare? What about regular dually being compared to a single axle with out wheels. This may sound strange but for some reason I thought dually axles were more narrow than that of a single axle. Example being if you remove the outer wheel of a dually isn't the stance more narrow than that of a single. I heard that switching out the single with a dually alllows for slightly wider tires with correct offset with out needing fender falres. Some people claim 315 will sit on the rear as is and if the above is true how much larger could you go. Understanding this is for more of a custom truck look \ lowering and racing.

you're correct MultiSmith ...

i did mine a month ago

the cab chassis i have is a '96 ...

it is two inches NARROWER where the tires mount than the '01 srw drum brake axle that came stock in the truck

my 35x12. 50's sit flush under the fenders ...

we measured a '96 dually axle out of a truck with a bed and it was two inches wider than the srw 70 out of my truck ...

we had all three out of truck together ...

never thought to right any numbers

just loaded up the cab and chassis axle and never looked back

Wow great find, hunting for such seems like it would be a pain. Having three to compare against is a blessing to say the least. Wish me luck! there happens to be a few Dana 80's on ebay for a 94-and up year Dodge but would need for the seller to somehow verify or give me the numbers. What were the measurements for all three drum to drum do you recall?

2broke, how wide are your wheels? 16. 5x9. 75 or 16. 5x8? Also any idea of the backspace on the rear wheels?

multi smith, that's the guy i bought mine off of ... the 110k dana 70 he is selling / sold is my old one ... call him and ask him to measure, i don't remember but he's a super guy to deal with ... we actually bought 2 from him, tell him Rex said hi

Bwillard, i'm running stock 3rd gen alloys, but there is more than an inch of clearance, have'nt had a chance to try but i'd bet 100 bucks my old 16" rims would fit ...

I'd like to find a C/C rear for mine with disks and run the most negative backspace 9. 75 wheel I can find that won't cause clearance issues with the brakes & springs. That way maybe I can get alittle extra bite on the rear when I decide to hook up :-laf Probably gonna run alittle more positive backspace on the front.
