Truck is stock w/ Dana 80. Just put in 14 pounds

(8qts)of oil w/ 2 bottles of lsd oil in my differential. That is one stout rear! I filled to oil fill line on new dip stick. Noticed calibration plug is same as stock oil fill level which is well below new fill line.
Why is new fill level so much higher than stock level? I thought too much is just as bad as too little. What is wrong with stock level?
