VA Boxes where do you buy them?

Extra money for Stage2 AFE worth it??

Besides the 3. 55:1 and 4. 10:1 axle ratios... what others are available in taller... or numerically lower ratios? I've seen some 3. 31's advertised for Dana 80's. Is this the same Dana 80 we have or does the Hybrid part of the axle not allow different gears than what Dodge offers?

Thanks! Driving the 5speed in Indianapolis city traffic at 5pm isn't exactly fun with a clutch. Sometimes I see lights turn red to green three times.

Taking off in second only yeilds me 13 mph before my 2100 rpm shifts. Its not until 4th when I can keep up with normal traffic at a decent rpm. Usually I'm in 5th by 45mph which is a tad too low for me.

First is very low as you all know. I dont think I'd hurt myself if my first went up a little in mph. I still wouldn't use it for normal driving but I think the 3. 31's would still make it usable for pulling at low speed.

Let me know how you fare, I want something between 3. 55 and 4. 10 too. I was told the 3. 73 (perfect IMO) requires a shim behind the ring gear.

I'd love to have a 3. 07 like the first gens... ... .

Cruise in O. D. 75MPH at 1,700RPM, and tow in Direct, 65MPH @ 2,10RPM (rough guesses)

I heard the 3. 31 gear swap is !!$$

National Differntial in ColoSpgs (great guys to deal with, BTW) told me a new carrier is required to go to a 3. 31. But if you only tow lightly, and have a 2wd, it may be better than a GV, et al, overdrive, giving you a similar final drive ratio.

Also, you can go higher than 2100rpm to shift, esp if you are in a bit of a hurry to get through that yellow light. :-laf I take mine up to the 3K or so governor (no tach, just guestimate) before shifting; gives me more take off pep in 3rd as well.

I'm not sure how big you can go on a 2wd, but wouldn't larger tires accomplish this as well? My 97 4x4 has 255/85's on it and it seems to keep the rpms down at speed.

When this set of 245's on my 99 wear out, I am going to pursue larger. I think 265's were an option in 01/02, so I suspect they will fit. Anyone try anything larger?

Yes larger tires will accomplish the same thing. Don't be afraid to let it rev I shift mine at 2500- 2700rpm. Cummins told me this engine will run all day long at governed speed.
