I started getting a chatter from the rear end and upon inspection found my rear diff cover leaking. I pulled the cover off, drained it and jacked up each side of the axle to get it all out. After reinstalling the cover and refilling the axle I still have the chatter. I did the figure 8's and it is still there. I have never had to use any friction modifier in the past while running Amsoil Series 2000 75w-140. Do you think it did any damage when I started hearing the chatter because of the leaking rear cover? Any advice would be great. I would hate to have to take it somewhere and have them tear it apart. I haven't added and modifier yet wanted to pick your brains first. As you can see from my signature I have some good mileage on the truck and it is all from towing.

Add the modifier and be done with it. Sometimes you can get away without it because of variables in lube and diff clutch loading. Something's changed (normal wear), so you need the modifier now.

Amsoil now makes a modifier called "Slip-Lock". I think they have been getting a few chatter complaints. I changed to their series 2000 75w140 also and had to add some slip-lock... OK now!!

Thanks Gordan..........

I knew they made some but I did not order any when ordered my gear lube due to the fact I hadn't needed any in the past. I would have rather used theirs but couldn't wait for a week to get it. I will have to use it next time. Thanks again.

You don't have damage, it's just working better than it ever has!

I didn't have chattering until a couple thousand miles after installing the LSD and filling with Amsoil. The Dodge anti-slip lube is a very good product, 1 oz cured it. I would add the additive (whichever one you go with) one oz at a time to maintain peak effectivness of the limited slip.

1st time I put Amsoil in the rear diff, I didn't need any friction modifier. Next time I did. Same lubricant. Maybe Amsoil isn't adding the modifier at the factory so that they can sell it separetly now.
