Dana 80

I just swapped out a dana 80 with 4. 10 limited slip for a dana 80 3. 54 limited slip and two strong guys can barely lift the complete axle assembly, i got the axle on my trailer i will go across a scale tomorrow and weigh with and without the axle and let you know. Oo.

Im pretty sure the last time I weighed my 14bolt with the detroit, factory drums, and stock steel cover it weighed 517lbs. That was a long time ago, though so dont quote me. I would venture to guess the D-80 weighs more than the 14-bolt. the 14-bolt is only a 10. 5" ring gear. (for those wondering what a 14-bolt is, it is a chev rear axle).

Boxed up in a crate, my Dana 80 was over 600 lbs (I think it was 615lbs IIRC)

I would guess the very well built crate to have weighed 75-100lbs.

A Dana 80 dually with calipers weighs 516 exactly. I had to weigh each component and the whole assembly so a SRW with drums should be about the same.

There's actually 2 different 14 bolts there is the 10. 5 and a 9. 5 inch ring gear both are still in use today.
