If you haven't already locked in on a dealer, some good things have been posted about the Dodge dealer in Bonham, TX.

ken i hope your sales people are better then the ones here in new york for training , we where looking at a sprinter for my company well i was telling salesmen about vehicals so for being trained no good here . HE WAS telling me no 6. 7 for pickups or 6speed transmission and i couldnt get them in a mega dually jeff

Diesel is pretty much all we do. I know that when you get out East that the percentage of diesel vs gas is much less. It is a rare day that we sell a gas engine truck. No excuse for not knowing the product, but I am sure he focused on where the majority of the business is. I was talking a dealer in Baltimore and he said they rarely sell a dually. Back here in Oregon we can't get enough duallys built.

We have sold a few mega cab duallys but they are weird suckers. The Quad cab 4x4 is 90%+ of our business.

Ken, i am hoping you might be able to give me some feedback on what to expect for a truck I ordered on 12/19/06. It is a 3500 mc 4x4 w/ 6. 7 ctd. The dealer I ordered through is saying that I may not get the truck until end of February or first part of March. This seems like a long time. The truck I ordered is pretty run of the mill, when will dealers be receiving the first shipments of 2500/3500's (not C&C) with the 6. 7 ctd? Isn't normal lead time on an order 6 weeks? Thanks for any insight you may have on this.

Ivan

Ivan... ... ... ... I am still trying to get a price on an 07 qc. Can you give me a ball park figure of what your, on order, truck cost? Thanks

Ken... .

I have a good relationship with my dealer... I've bought 5 rigs from them in the past 3 1/2 years and was asked to come in several months ago... they had found out that I own an F550... . Don't know if this was a dealer thing... . or DC... . but was asked my interest in the 5500 and what I was looking for... they showed me at that time some pre production information on the 4500 and 5500 and asked me to look it over and see if it would fit for me as a replacement for my F550 when the time came... It was like 24 hours later I was called by my dealer asking what I thought... . At the time I had just glanced at the information they gave me... but looked it over and got back to them...

I do wish to replace the F550 and 2 of the 3500's that I have... with something bigger... the cost to keep the F550 has been really bad and I had to put a new engine in it 15 months or so ago... I'm forced to keep it a while longer... so if the 5500's are a few months more out. . that's fine... But what I wrote in the other posts to this thread was what I was told maybe 8-10 months ago...

Wanted to get the prices laid out so I could get the 2500, 6. 7L, SB, pick-up ordered before the new year. Karl Klement, Dodge, Decatur, Texas, wouldn’t dance with me. I had my shopping list right out of the big beautiful 40 page, Dodge, scratch-n-sniff, book that came in the mail. Bill K. M. , bird dogged in the parking lot and soon turned me over to the guy with the computer. I was told that prices were not available for a special order truck on this Saturday, December 23, 2006. I addition, published allowances or rebates’ effective when I order the truck are not valid unless they still exist at the day of delivery in February/March 2007. HOWEVER, he would be glad to place my real time order in the computer right then and now. I had to think about that. Humm……no prices. That’s a lump of coal just in time for Christmas. One of you Elves’ have any knowledge about this subject? Oh, by the way, it is Merry Christmas, not Happy Muham-mad  . MERRY CHRISTMAS .

Some Dealers Do Dance.

To those who offered solutions to the problem I had with nailing down a price on a 6. 7 CTD, pick-up, thanks for your help.

All together I contacted 6 Dodge dealers including the local guy during the holiday period. Three responded of which two were serious about providing me the prices I requested. I am often quick to criticize the apathy I witness form those in business. “Vote With Your Dollar,“ is my battle cry.

If you are looking to order/buy a Cummins you can save some valuable time with this information.

Whoever told you that you could order the 5500 after the first of the year was either optimistic or not very educated. Here is what I know:

The 4500/5500 is hopefully being introduced this month at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. It will be a 2008 model. It is kind of accurate that you have to be a Sprinter dealer, the actual is you have to be a BusinessLink dealer. That also means you must have the facilities, training, special tools to handle these trucks. So, not every Dodge dealer will carry the 4500/5500. Also, since the trucks will be very technical and the relationship with the upfitters are crucial, you wouldn't want to buy from any ole' salesperson at any ole' dealer anyway.

At my store we will only allow salespeople who have undergone extra training and testing to sell the 4500/5500. That is how we do it with Sprinter and it works very well.

I expect the 4500/5500 will be orderable by July, although they could come early. So it is after the first of the year, just not 'right' after the first.
