I know alot of guys have gone to the mechanical front axle disconnect cable for the 4 wheel drive. My problem is the port on the transfer case vacumn tubes is getting vacum but the front end ports aren't when I engage 4 wheel and the engine is running. Now is it possible for the transfer case valve to get stuck, and can it be fixed or is it most likely a leak in the line somewhere. Sure appreciate any advice, I like the setup but just want to make sure it works before winter gets here, and I have to go to Saskachewan in January and am pretty sure I will really need it if theres a storm.

One of the hoses at the CAD should always have vacuum. Have you had any work done lately? I would check all the connections before replacing anything.

It has vacum

One port of the "cad" has vacum at the transfer case, I am just not getting any vacum to the front axle disconnect and I can't seem to locate any leaks. So is there a way that the valve system in the transfer case can go bad? If so how can it be fixed.

Appreciate your help.

Shane, if you look back from the valve from the transfer case the four black hoses will be connected to four colored tubes, green black, red, and gray. Green is the vent line, should not have vacuum here. Gray is the vacuum in line, this should have vacuum when ever the engine is running. Black in the CAD engage line, should have vacuum when the transfer case is in 4WD. Red is disengage, should have vacuum when transfer case is in 2WD.

There is a diagnosis flow chart in the service manual. I don't have a way of copping it and sending it to you but if you want to give me a call I think I can talk you through it.
