Dash Air Cond. Vents

Does anyone know how to remove the dash board air conditioner vents. I assume that they just pop out but I am to timid to jump in and try it.

I had a "beverage" #ad
splash out of the cup a while back and the direction slider don't slide to well and I need to clean it.

I have never tried to take just a vent out. Just pull the whole dash off, real easy absolutley NO bolts or screws. Just start at one side and pull it till it pops out, then work your way across. To put it back, just line it up and smack it in. I do it every time i clean my interior, Makes cleaning the gauge cover easy and streak free.

Thanks for the tip but the vent I need to pull out is the one located infront of the passenger seat to the left of the air bag.

They are called "Panel outlet barrels. " From 99 manual and I quote: WARNING: THE PANEL OUTLET BARRELS INSTALLED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOOR PANEL OUTLET HOUSING MUST NEVER BE REINSTALLED FOLLOWING REMOVAL FOR ANY REASON. THEY MUST BE REPLACED WITH NEW BARRELS. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THIS WARNING COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT INJURIES UPON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ?????? Now for removal: 1. Using a trim stick or another suitable flat-bladed tool, gently pry near the center of either side of the panel outlet barrel to release the snap-fit pivot pins in the outlet housing of the passenger side airbag module or the instrument cluster bezel. 2. Remove the barrel from the panel outlet housing. 3. To inbstall a new panel outlet barrel, position the barrel in the outlet housing and press inward firmly and evenly near the center of both sides of the panel outlet barrel until the pivots snap into place.

Why do vehaicle makers have to make this stuff so annoying??. I cant figure out why you cant reinstall them. Unless it is one of those ridiculous "Covering our a**" things where in one of 10 thousand tests, one of the vents that had been removed, then re-installed flew off and hit somebody in the head during a deployment of the air bag and now we are forced to buy new vents when we remove one. Sounds like a bunch of s**t to me.
